Campus Experience Tim Anderson oversaw a campus master plan update for Arizona State University which entailed increasing the density of the program within the campus superblock while balancing and preserving open space. The red and outdated public realm was also planned to be revitalized providing much needed shade and a relook at surfaces to reduce reflecve heat. Tim was also deeply involved with the Nicholson Gateway; an excing new district located on the west side of the Louisiana State University campus. The master plan set out to transform what has tradionally become the back door of the campus into an impressive new western gateway. The purpose of the study was to create a redevelopment plan for the former Alex Box Stadium site and the adjacent graduate apartment complex, as well considering long term improvements along the corridor. The Gateway was thought of not as a threshold but an enre experience that sets a new campus image for the west side of the campus. The Gateway consist of two primary elements: a mix use district that includes student apartments, housing for faculty and staff, retail, and university office space that are configured in a compact urban seng organized around a central plaza; and a student residenal area for upperclassmen and graduate student arranged in a more tradional collegiate seng of parks and quadrangles in the tradion of the historical part of the campus. One of the key themes for Nicholson Gateway is to improve connecons. At the macro scale, the project becomes a desnaon hub that anchors revitalizaon iniaves be- tween the LSU campus and Downtown Baton Rouge, as well as serving as an intermediate desnaon that links the core campus to Mississippi river. At a more immediate scale, the project transforms the character of Nich- olson Drive from an auto-dominated highway into a proper campus street which includes slowing traffic, providing for easier pedestrian crossings, and promong walking and biking along its path. Tim also oversaw a master planning process through a first phase construc- on document set for a new Arts Center in Allen Texas. The program was not only about art educaon but included two theaters, an arts promenade and large open space event area. Tim wrote design guidelines for future landscape development including the approach for selecng and locang art works. Tim also drove the development of a green infrastructure system that included an open drainage stormwater system. The parking lots are curbless and flow to bioswales that ulmately collect in an exisng pond located by the building. The pond also collects the building’s roof drainage and holds the water allowing selement of materials before being released into Roullee Creek. In addion, Tim oversaw an Alumni Plaza at the University of Arizona and adapve re-use project for Stanford Health and Hospitals North Campus Outpaent Clinic. The Alumni Plaza included a large iconic landform gate- way structure, fountains and shaded seang areas. The Stanford Project included lush garden outdoor seang rooms with nave planng, a seang terrace event space.

Campus Experience

Tim Anderson oversaw a campus master plan update for Arizona State University which entailed increasing the density of the program within the campus superblock while balancing and preserving open space. The tired and outdated public realm was also planned to be revitalized providing much needed shade and a relook at surfaces to reduce reflective heat.

Tim was also deeply involved with the Nicholson Gateway; an exciting new district located on the west side of the Louisiana State University campus. The master plan set out to transform what has traditionally become the back door of the campus into an impressive new western gateway. The purpose of the study was to create a redevelopment plan for the former Alex Box Stadium site and the adjacent graduate apartment complex, as well considering long term improvements along the corridor. The Gateway was thought of not as a threshold but an entire experience that sets a new campus image for the west side of the campus. The Gateway consist of two primary elements: a mix use district that includes student apartments, housing for faculty and staff, retail, and university office space that are configured in a compact urban setting organized around a central plaza; and a student residential area for upperclassmen and graduate student arranged in a more traditional collegiate setting of parks and quadrangles in the tradition of the historical part of the campus. One of the key themes for Nicholson Gateway is to improve connections. At the macro scale, the project becomes a destination hub that anchors revitalization initiatives be-tween the LSU campus and Downtown Baton Rouge, as well as serving as an intermediate destination that links the core campus to Mississippi river. At a more immediate scale, the project transforms the character of Nich-olson Drive from an auto-dominated highway into a proper campus street which includes slowing traffic, providing for easier pedestrian crossings, and promoting walking and biking along its path.

Tim also oversaw a master planning process through a first phase construc-tion document set for a new Arts Center in Allen Texas. The program was not only about art education but included two theaters, an arts promenade and large open space event area. Tim wrote design guidelines for future landscape development including the approach for selecting and locating art works. Tim also drove the development of a green infrastructure system that included an open drainage stormwater system. The parking lots are curbless and flow to bioswales that ultimately collect in an existing pond located by the building. The pond also collects the building’s roof drainage and holds the water allowing settlement of materials before being released into Roullette Creek.

In addition, Tim oversaw an Alumni Plaza at the University of Arizona and adaptive re-use project for Stanford Health and Hospitals North Campus Outpatient Clinic. The Alumni Plaza included a large iconic landform gate-way structure, fountains and shaded seating areas. The Stanford Project included lush garden outdoor seating rooms with native planting, a seating terrace event space.
