Competition for the Best Technological Innovation in Serbia
• The competition is organized from 2005 on• The organizer is, from the beginning, the Ministry of
Science and Technological Development of Serbia, aided by– Faculty of Engineering in Novi Sad (organization and education), – Serbian Chamber of Commerce (promotion, regional
organization of trainings, semifinal and finals in adjunct categories)
– Radio Television of Serbia (promotion, organization and direct broadcast of the finals).

Competition for the Best Technological Innovation in Serbia
• The most attractive part from the viewpoint of media is the choice of the winning innovation
• The most important activity is the education provided to participants in marketing the new products, services, processes or software developed during their own R&D
• This fulfills the mission statement of the competition, namely the promotion of entrepreneurial thinking and conduct by the researchers, creative individuals, SMEs, students and everybody else with a new idea with a market potential
• The organizers are trying to give aid in promoting the innovations through the media, as well as to find financial support

Are R&D organizations innovative, and what can we do?
• Regarding the goals in the area of cooperation with R&D organizations, they are– to change of mindset of researchers– promotion of market oriented researchers in their respective
environments • Our R&D institutions are SCI list oriented• Researchers often regard their colleagues who seek market confirmation of
their R&D results as immoral• Researchers are adamant that four months of vacation yearly are necessary
for gathering the creative energy– ...

Continuous work with former contestants
• From 2006 on at least one training for them• Analysis of strategies which proved to be succesful in Serbia
(localization)• From 2007 on all examples are from previous contestants (no
Microsoft/Google case studies). This is the main difference as compared to expensive trainings delivered by foreign consultants
