• Further changes ongoing
• Apprentices registered on a framework apprenticeship can now obtain a specific Apprentice card that is valid for up to 4 years
CSCS Scheme Changes
• Construction Related Occupations (CRO) being reviewed - where a qualification now exists cardholders will be redirected to the right card when their CRO card is due to expire
• CSCS is working towards removing the proliferation of card colours – by the end of 2016 the intention would be for all cards to be a single colour. Cards would have limited information printed on them and the only way to carry out card checks will be to read them using the smart chip

The In-Company Training Scheme has been developed by the CITB Specialist Federation Support team to support sectors of the construction industry when there is a qualification in place for certain roles but no training provision to support the achievement of the qualification other than that provided by the employers themselves..
In 2014 we delivered a limited pilot scheme to test out the concept and can now offer a scheme tailored to the Road Planing sector.
The scheme is to support the achievement of the NVQ for Road Planer Operatives, there is also a similar scheme in place for Road Paver Operatives.

• It is available to any employer who is registered with and pays levy to CITB.
• The training will still be carried out by the employer but he will receive some further financial support for their work in carrying out the training.
• Currently the only CITB grant available is the NVQ Achievement Grant of £400 per candidate.
• Any employer registering an employee for the NVQ and entering into the scheme will receive an additional £800 in total when the achievement obtained to support the cost of assessment

• The scheme is open to employees that are new to the specific roles but not necessarily new to
the company.
• Operators who are already experienced but do not hold the NVQ have to been assessed in the
normal way.
