When drawing a map to scale, it is important to include as much detail as possible.

The village of Thakeham lies to the east of Pulborough. It has a church and is joined to the village of Abingworth by a secondary road. The name of Abingworth suggests that this place grew up around a farm. To the south-west of Abingworth is the site of an old Roman Road. South of this road are tumuli - burial places of the Ancient Britons.
