Monthly Report of Subject-Panels and Groups
【November 2016】
English Language
(1) F1 Halloween Party
A Halloween party was held for form 1
students in the hall during their lesson on 24
October. The NET dressed up as Captain Jack
Sparrow and Form 1 teachers in witches
costumes arranged English games and
activities based on the theme of Halloween.
Students were divided into groups of four
and they had to work together to compete
and play games ranging from movie
matching, acrostic poem writing to tongue
twisters. Students were very active and
enjoyed activity-based learning. Apple
bobbing, breaking the piñata filled with
candies and trick-or-treating for sweets were
the highlights of the party. Pictures of the
party will be displayed in front of the school
hall. Happy spooky Halloween to all!
(2) English Online Learning Pragramme
Our junior-form students have enrolled in an
English learning online programme
developed by Immersive Education Academy
Limited. The programme enables students to
have live interactions with the instructor as
well as other learners. Self-learning materials
and online resources are also available. The
programme commenced in October and will
last until the end of the school year. It is
hoped that the programme will help
students improve their communication skills
and enrich their knowledge of current issues.
(3) The 68th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival
To build up students’ confidence in public
speaking and enhance their interest in
literature and the language arts, our school
encourages students to take part in the
annual Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival.
This year, we have entered more than 140
students in various events. The Festival will
start in November and training has been
ongoing.

They will be divided into groups and submit their
project five weeks after their visits.
This project learning aims to provide space for
students to express their self-learning spirit,
develop their generic skills and interpersonal
skills. At the same time, through project learning,
students can actively construct knowledge and
broaden their horizons.

Geography
(1) To align with the aims and objectives of the
NSS Geography curriculum, 40 S.4-5 students
finished inquiry-based fieldwork which was
organized by Ho Koon Nature Education cum
Astronomical Centre on 13th September.
Students have to finish the report including
the changing location of Hong Kong
manufacturing industry and the analysis of
social, economic and environmental impact of
changes in industrial location. Reports have to
be handed in before 6th November.
(2) 4 S.5 students attended a talk ‘The Tolling of
Climate Alarm Bells’ on 15th October which is
organized by Young Adult Library of Hong
Kong Central Library. The talk was about the
latest development of global climate change.
It particularly highlighted the various extreme
weather occurring around the world.
(3) 10 S.4-5 students will participate in ‘SR8
Checkpoint Challenge’. It is a friendly match
among Wan Chai district secondary schools.
Students will have to complete a series of
tasks about sustainable development.

為鼓勵學生養成多閱讀的習慣,中文科於今年
開始,在中一及中二級各班課室內增設「中文
圖書角」,提供不同類型的中文書籍,並安排
同學擔任管理員,協助借還書手續。另外,亦
設立了不同獎項,包括:最佳圖書管理員、最
準時還書班別、最愛惜書本班別、借書量最高
班別及學生。開卷有益,期望同學享受閱讀樂
趣!
Discipline Group
(1) 15 S.3 and S.4 students have joined the “HSBC
Urban Organic Farming --- School
Demonstration & Leadership Training
Programme” which is organized by the Hong
Kong Organic Resource Centre. This
programme includes 4 components:
“Leadership Training”, “Organic Farming
Workshop”, “Farm Internship”, and
“Train-the –trainer workshop”. Throughout
the year, students leaders are required to
organize on-campus and community-based
organic promotional activities to demonstrate
what they have learned about organic farming
and leadership skills.
(2) Smoke-free Youth Ambassadors of our school
are organizing a smoke-free publicity day on
Saturday 19th November in Wanchai to
convey smoke-free messages in order to
create a smoke-free living environment in our
community.

the school biology laboratory during their
lesson on 7th November.
(5) Twelve S.4 and S.5 students had participated
in The Secondary School Mathematics &
Science Competition 2016 (SSMSC2016)
organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic
University on 1st May 2016. The results of

Kong Association for Science and
Mathematics Education (HKASME) on 19th
November 2016. Each student participant
has to attend a 1-hour test with 60
multiple-choice questions.

Moral, Civic Education & National Education
Group
(1) Green Bottle Charter 2016「綠瓶子承諾」
Our school has taken part in the Green Bottle
Programme organized by The Green Earth by
signing the Green Bottle Charter. We hope to
encourage our students and staff to do their
part in reducing plastic waste for a greener
environment. Students and staff are provided
with Green Bottle information. Students are
also encouraged to reduce the use of plastic
bottles and bring their own water bottles to
school and during school funcions, like Sports
Days and Swimming Gala. Our staff will also
support the Green Bottle Charter and
distributing disposable bottled water will not
be provided in staff meetings.
(2) Badge Award Ceremony for Monitors「班領
袖配章典禮」
The Badge Award Ceremony for class
monitors was held on 5th October 2016
during the hall assembly. A total of 79 badges
were presented by our principal, Mr.
Tang.Three class monitors this year, Yiu Pak
Ho 饒柏浩 (F.6A), Wong Sai Kwok 黃世國
(F.4A) and Xie Jiawen 謝嘉雯 (F.1C) were
invited to talk about the duties of being a
class leader. They said all the class monitors
have the right and duties to assist the class
and subject teachers to maintain a good order
in their own classroom and help the
classroom run more smoothly and efficiently.
They also shared what they have learned
through being a class monitor. They agreed
that this is a position of leadership and it
motivates them to stirve harder to succeed
and become role models for their classmates
and schoolmates.
(3) “Love Post Day”「郵遞傳情日」
To encourage our students to express their
affection and appreciation to their primary
school teachers in writing, we participated in
the “Love Post Day” organized by Hong Kong
Post on the 7th October 2016. Our S.1
students and staff were invited to send one
postage-free card or letter to their loved ones
on the 10th October 2016. It was be a good
opportunity for students to show their
gratitude to their beloved teachers in
letter-writing. A total of 115 ‘Thank you” cards
and letters were sent.
(4) Youth Summit 2016 「青年高峰會議 2016」
Two of our students, Tsen Kai Yi 鄭塏誼 (F.5A)
and Li Hiu Ching 李曉晴 (F.5A) have joined
the Youth Summit 2016 jointly organised by
the Home Affairs Bureau and the Commission
on Youth. It aims to provide a platform for
young people to exchange their views on
issues of their concern with government
officials and guests. The theme of the coming
Youth Summit is "Tomorrow's Hong Kong,
Youth Co-create"「青年同創.明日香港」.The
following three topics, selected by most of the
youth participants, will become the discussion
topics at the summit:
i. Challenges and opportunities for young
entrepreneurs
ii. Roles of young people in community
affairs
iii. Future town planning
The "Youth Summit 2016" will be held on 26
Novemebr, 2016 and the partipating students
will attend a Pre-summit workshop of "Youth
Summit 2016" on 29th October 2016.

Various activities related to career and life

Systems for S.6 Students
A briefing session on local multipath and
relevant application systems was held for all
S.6 students. The details are as follow:

52 S.6 students enrolled in the Mock
Examination (Chinese Language (Paper 1 & 3),
English Language (Paper 1 & 3), Mathematics
and Liberal Studies) organized by the Hok Yau
Club.
ii. Youth New World – Mock Exam For U
21 S.6 students enrolled in the Mock
Examination (Chinese Language (Paper 2 & 4)
and English Language (Paper 2 & 4))
organized by the Youth New World.
iii. Mock HKDSE Result Release Workshop for S.6
Students
A Mock HKDSE Result Release Workshop,
organized by the Hok Yau Club, was held to
familiarize S.6 students with the procedures
and have an authentic experience of the
release of HKDSE results so that they can plan
and seek appropriate advice from various
channels.
