Alloycars Aluminum Spyder

Who is AlloyCars Inc.?

Since 1996 AlloyCars coachbuilders of Fort Lauderdale – FL

are known for re-creations of historic race cars. The team

has combined the master craftsmanship of German

handmade aluminum body construction and high-tech

CAD re-engineering of historic race icons. The results are

stunning reconstructions of legendary automobiles like

the Porsche 550 Spyder.

AlloyCars has taken the initiative to re-create the 550

Spyder using exact 3D scan data of an original car as well

as over 800 blueprints/sketches, drawings and hundreds

of photos taken from each component of the original

dismantled car.

Each of those components was re-cast and re-created as a

mirror image of the original. These intricate components

(most hidden under the body) make it impossible for

even seasoned Porsche experts to tell it apart from an

original 550.

AlloyCars is the only firm dedicated to re-create this car in

every little detail.

Reviving Craftsmanship

Development

The development of the Spyder project has simple roots. We started by producing a polished aluminum version of a popular replica on

the market at the time. It was a shot in the dark because we knew even then that this was not our ideal long term business goal. Shortly

after the presentation of the first car, we found ourselves in possession of original blueprint documents and soon after that a digitized

scan of car number 90.

After a 3D digitizing process of all parts we had everything necessary to produce the ideal/perfect re-creation of the iconic Porsche

Spyder 550. After approximately four months of tedious, labor intensive, manual corrections to the scan data it was ready to be

converted to a language that a modern CNC mill could read. In a period of four months over 30 molds/bucks were cut and readied to

begin production.

JUST IMAGINE…. BUILDING A COMPLETE VINTAGE CAR FROM SCRATCH!

At about the same time the chassis paper blueprints were translated into solid works language which yielded a jig that would later produce

an exact High Rail Spyder chassis. Six months after the initial pieces were shaped over the buck, we had enough sections to start

assembling/welding the one unit body. Once the major sections of the body were grafted together, they were aligned on a jig to ensure

symmetry and attached to the chassis which was now waiting on a rotisserie. After we had something that simulated a car, we began

producing the small bits that completed the car. All of the first parts were one offs interpreted from the blueprints and made by hand to fit.

Every piece was fitted, verified and digitized for easy re-production.

The process above has an estimated time investment of over 8,000 man hours.

AlloyCars Spyder

Constructed with a curvaceous aluminum body wrapped

around a tubular steel ladder chassis that has a 1.5-liter air-

cooled flat four mid-engine, the original Spyder weighed 550

kilograms (1,213 pounds).

With its 135hp engine in such a lightweight, superb handling

machine, the Spyder beat every other vehicle within its own

class and could run with much higher-powered (but heavier)

machines.

Only a limited quantity of 4-5 units/year will be available for

those customers who understand exclusivity and timing. Our

cars are built to exact specifications as in 1955. The 550

Spyder is considered one of the most desirable and legendary

sports racing cars of all time

“We can build your car to any custom

stage, from a basic kit up to a fully built

turnkey Spyder”

The Alloycars Spyder has an exact reconstructed chassis and

aluminum body. This car can be assembled with authentic

reproduction- and genuine Porsche parts including a 1950's

period Porsche 356 engine, suspension, drum brakes and

steering assembly. The Porsche 4-cam engine and other

engine options are possible.

The Roller Kit includes everything from the Body/Chassis Kit plus installed suspension, steering and brake system. The brake system is pre-installed but not connected as, by Florida Law, we as a kit car builder are not allowed to install it, unless we are contracting a third party to do this for you. We will give you the respective discount. This is one way for you to economize and we can spend this time to go ahead with other projects. Here a list with all included options: Suspension:
