From Bauhaus to innovation workshop.

The design ethos of Bauhaus, namely that the form of anobject should be determined by its functionality, remainsalive in Lamy design. The LAMY 2000, which caused a sensation when it was introduced back in 1966, made itclear as the first fountain pen of the modern era what thismeans. Lamy has won more national and international designawards than any other manufacturer of writing instruments.For instance, the first European Design Prize, which waspresented to the company in 1988 by the EU. Or, as analternative, the German ‘design oscar’ the Design Prizeof the Federal Republic of Germany which, following theLAMY spirit and the LAMY pico, was also awarded for theLAMY noto in February of this year.

The rhodinised 14-carat gold nibof this palladium-finished fountain penis retracted by a gentle twist action.A precisely closing ball valve protectsthe nib from dirt and drying out, so thepen does not need a cap. When the nib is advanced theclip lowers into the pen body andtherefore does not get in the way whenwriting. When the nib is retracted theclip lifts out again ready to function.
