IOTA

The reference to an iota as the tiniest bit of something is the inspiration behind the design of the IOTA Chair. The chair is so named for the minimal and efficient use of materials, labour and time required to manufacture it. This practical chair fits in perfectly in industrial-style designed spaces. Complementing the unfinished, utilitarian ambience, IOTA features a seat and back in Bass Veneer, studded with rivets for added character. The cold-galvanised treatment with epoxy finish highlights distinctive stoppers on the chair’s feet. Get the bench and side chair too, all with comfortable waterfall seats. A dining table in the same style is also available.

The traditional ideal of an aluminium and wood chair is reworked in the Adela. Softly rounded edges and a little broader on all sides for extra comfort, this stackable chair with a classic look is a shoo-in for all outdoor terraces. Strong and durable teak wood is used for its backrest and seat. Adela’s simple design easily makes it an all-purpose chair, even indoors.

GAJAH PINNA & POLY

Everything is big about this chair. Like its name implies, the Gajah Chair (gajah means ‘elephant’ in the Malay language), offers an invitingly deep seat and a generously wide back, complete with two wings that resemble an elephant’s huge ears. This fully assembled chair sits on a solid beech wooden frame while the Lounge version has a metal mild steel frame.

Distinctly oriental in flavour, the Poly Chair echoes both traditional Japanese and Chinese furniture styles and the shared emphasis on nature and simple shapes. The roughhewn tree branches used in ancient furniture-making are replaced by a modern frame of refined solid beech, with polyester webbing for the seat. The Arm Chair version has an additional backseat feature for even more comfort.

COUNTRY I COUNTRY II

Aptly named the Country chair, it’s a clear example of how the same design can be adapted to suit different cultures and styles by changing only slight details such as the backrest. Country’s easy adaptability allows distinctive features of different cultures to be incorporated into the design as the chair crosses borders from Europe to Asia. Country I is distinctively Italian in feel.

Four different designs show off how the Country chair can look the same, and yet not be the same. Country II, for instance, is reminiscent of a Ming chair from China’s dynastic past. All it takes is a single broad vertical addition to the backrest to give it an Oriental flavour.

COUNTRY III COUNTRY IV

It’s the same sturdy frame. Simply exchange the vertical backrest for some wooden spokes, angle them for a different effect, and a new version of the chair is born. Country III recalls the furniture style of England.

The more classic-looking Country IV, evocative of Denmark’s furniture, is achieved by dovetailing the slants of the wooden spokes towards the seat of the chair. Every version of the Country chair is available as a side chair, arm chair and barstool. There are also three solid colours from which to choose. Non-stackable.

Small changes can make all the difference. The traditional concept of a wooden chair gets a subtle makeover in the Astras chair. Edges and surfaces are rounded off to add a touch of refinement and elegance to an age-old favourite. The collection is available in solid beech, oak and walnut for the frame, and a choice of upholstered fabric or woven polypropylene wicker for the seat. Non-stackable.

If extreme comfort is uppermost in your mind when choosing a chair, then you can’t go wrong with the Blow chair. The designer had striven to make it “the most comfortable upholstered chair in the world”. Elegant and voluptuous in volume, rounded and modern in design, Blow is in a class of its own. Its ability to be stackable up to three units is an added bonus. Both side chair and arm chair are available in solid beech and oak.

Polypropylene and mild steel combine to present modern sophistication, pure lines and a sturdy, stackable chair in ultra-fresh colours. The 120 chair was inspired by a triangle’s inherent strength. Look for the chair’s unique feature of three 120° angles, adjacent to each other, forming the joint between the front leg and the chair seat.

Stackable and made completely of polypropylene (PP), a contemporary material instead of traditional wood, the aptly named REVIVAL chair retains the vintage charm of a much-loved classic design. Give this reinterpreted chair of a bygone era a distinct modern flavour with a choice from a great palette of colours.

The slender but sturdy frame holds a plywood shell that starts from a high backrest and fans out into the seat inone smooth, sensual sweep. Alluringly slim with a tucked-in waist where the backrest meets the seat, this stackable chair oozes an appeal that sets hearts racing. Available in stainless steel andmild steel.

This chair is an exercise in minimalism. Constructed of laminated plywood on a metal frame, the Ovni Chair is inspired by a simple geometric shape – the oval. The oval backrest is mirrored in the oval seat, both delicately curved to offer exceptional comfort.

An elegant, scaled-down cousin of the more flamboyant T-Chair, the T-Arm Chair is a modern reinterpretation of the old working chair of institutional furniture. Its absolute sturdiness and extremely strong construction make this New Nordic-design chair virtually indestructible, a perfect choice for the hospitality arena. Change the colour and wood surface for different looks. Both the Arm Chair and the Barstool versions are stackable for easy storage.

Out of the rich Scandinavian design traditions comes the Zeat Chair. Its charm lies in its utter simplicity. Zeat is minimalist in design, but still sports small details and refined curves that give the chair a distinct character. Made of mild steel, its lightness is one of its key strengths. Another is that there are different versions of the Zeat Arm Chair to cater to different moods and styles, especially in the F&B and hospitality fields. Both stackable and non-stackable versions of Zeat are available.
