WHAT TO EXPECTFor this one-day course, students will receive lectures on surgical and minimal invasive extraction techniques used in modern exodontia, management of complications and risk assessment of medically compromised patients, simple concepts of bone grafting and socket preservation, flap designs, suture techniques, and frequently performed minor oral surgery procedures in the general dental practice.
Doctors will also have the opportunity to apply what they have learned through by practicing on pig jaws during the hands-on workshop included.
There are ample opportunities for question and answer with the faculty . A wide variety of hand instruments as well as hand pieces and electro-motors will be provided. All the graft materials and sutures are also provided.

Thomas G. Wiedemann, MD, DDS, PhD, Clinical Assistant Professor is currently a full-time faculty member and Assistant Director for Advanced Programs in Oral Surgery / Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland at New York University (NYU), College of Dentistry, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Wiedemann´s career consists of more than 25 years of surgical and educational experience in an academic setting and successfully operating a private practice providing the full scope of Oral- & Maxillofacial Surgery and Implant Dentistry. He has special interests in dental emergency care and minimal invasive surgical techniques as well as in medico-legal aspects of dentistry.
His research projects are focused on etiology and treatment options of ailing implants. Dr. Wiedemann has acquired extensive expertise in implant surgery with multiple implant systems since 1995 and is very well versed in modern concepts of alveolar ridge augmentation and reconstruction (including intra- and extraoral autogenous bone grafts), maxillary sinus graft surgery, bone and tissue regeneration, CBCT guided- and piezo-surgery.
He is a Fellow of the European Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (EBOMFS) and has Diplomate status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).
