Consumers are increasing their expectations and usage of self-service, according to IBM
In a September 2007 IBM Survey of over 1,000 consumers:
– 69% of consumers indicated they expect more and more businesses to offer a self service option
– 52% indicate they are very comfortable using self service technology
– Roughly 50% indicate their usage of self service devices has gone up over the past year
– Over 33% of consumers would like additional resources available to them while they shop
– Only 4% of consumers indicate they are not using automated devices/kiosks
Top reasons for choosing to use self service: – Access to information and services outside of normal business hours
– Ease of use
– Don’t want to stand in line
– Offers privacy
