YELLING Worries AwayConrad Chan

Gist of Study

Yelling = effective calmer

For 3 days: participants YELL (in an open

space) whenever they feel stressed

Text me back with a yes/no response on

whether that helped them feel better +

optional additional comments

Pretty Simple

Active Participation was

Tough

Facebook, Twitter, Email Lists

Surprisingly ineffective

Ended up resorting to asking my friends

Still only got 4 participants

Even among 4 participants, had to

constantly remind them that the study was

going on

I didn’t set enough behavioral triggers

Difficulties here = surprising and frustrating

However..

From the few responses that I DID

get…it was obvious that

YELLING WORKS!

Potential next steps

Legitimizing yelling at a certain time

Social stigma = large barrier to

participation

Possible (Primal Screams on Midnight

of Dead Week)

Establish this activity as normal

behavior
