Problem/activity of the day

Today we are going to look at

money. The number on the

coin shows how much that coin

is worth. Using the pictures

below (or real coins) put them

in order of value starting with

the smallest value.

Make some of your own coins

using paper. You could also do

coin rubbings by placing a coin

under a piece of paper and

then rubbing on top using a

pencil or crayon. The pattern

on the coin will appear.

Meg has been to the shops and

bought some toys. Look at the

toys she bought below and how

much each toy cost.

How much money does each toy

cost?

How much did Meg spend

altogether if she bought two

toys? Three toys? Four toys?

What coins could Meg use to

buy the toys?

Meg has been learning the

days of the week song.

Sing along with Meg to learn

the order of the days of the

week.

Write out the days of the

week (or use the labels below)

and place in order.

What is your favourite day?

Why is this day your

favourite?

Draw/write about your

favourite day.

Meg has also been learning

about the months of the year.

Sing “Apple, Peaches, Pears

and Plums”.

The months of the year are

organised in to seasons. There

are four seasons in the year.

The weather changes during

the seasons and so does the

world around us.

The four seasons are:

Winter

Spring

Summer

Autumn

See below for a list of the

months and which season they

fall in. Draw a picture to

represent each season.

Meg has been learning to tell

the time. She has been using

the clock and learning about

the different features.

Help Meg below to identify

what the time is.

When the big hand points to

the 12 it is o’clock and when

the big hand points to the 6 it

is half past.

The brown coins are the least in value, then the silver coins and finally the gold coins. Look closely at the shapes of the coins as well.

Look at the value of each toy. Add the numbers together to find the total. Make this number using coins.
