Year 4 have been creating their own

West African inspired tie dye.

We first looked at lots of examples of

tie dye from The Gambia.

We then looked at some beautiful

Adinkra patterns.

I don’t know which symbol I should choose for my stamp.

We need to choose a design we can cut out

easily.

I had to create a new stamp design as my original was too

fiddly.

Next we had to decide how to tie

the rubber bands on our fabric. This was

harder than it looked.

I have chosen to have a single ring in the middle of my tie

dye. It was very important to make the elastic band as tight as possible.

My own heart shaped Adinkra based stamp.

We are now using our stamps to print a pattern onto the fabric.

You have to be careful to not put

too much paint onto your stamp.

How do you think Kadie madethis pattern on her tie dye?

It was really important to take care when using

our stamps, I made sure my pattern turned out exactly as I wanted.

Here are some of our finished designs, please let us know what you think of them!

We hope you have enjoyed looking at our powerpoint. Goodbye from Year 4 at Priory

Fields School.
