1 Installation of the SIMOTICS T-1FW6built-in torque motors
1.1 O-rings for cooling jacket motorsSIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motors with cooling jacket are installed in thecustomer's machine in the holes prepared by the customer. The grooves in thejacket surface of the stator together with the internal wall of the hole form thecooling system of the motor. This cooling system is sealed externally by twoO-rings (fluorocarbon rubber, trade name Viton®).The O-rings (ring chord) have a circular cross-section before installation. They arepressed flush into the ring groove when the stator is inserted. The cross-section ofthe O-rings is deformed and works as a sealing element.

1.2 Mounting tolerances and fits
The components of the SIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motors are only held intheir specified position to one another when installed in the machine. The rotor ismounted on a machine shaft or a shaft stump. The stator is inserted in a preparedhole in the machine (for motors with cooling jacket) or attached to the machinebody (for motors with integrated cooling).The specifications and information in the current 1FW6 Configuration Manual mustbe taken into account with regard to true running and eccentricity.
1.2.1 Overview of the installation situation
The following figure shows the dimensions for which the machine manufacturer isresponsible. On the one hand, this is the diameter of the machine shaft and on theother hand the diameter of the machine hole. A machine hole is not required formotors with integrated cooling, but the diameter specifications then apply for acentering collar (see note in the following section).Fig. 1-2: Overview of the tolerance zone positions

1.2.2 Fits when installing the stator of the cooling jacket motors
The stator of the SIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motor with cooling jacket(1FW6090, 130, 150 series) has a centering collar on each flange, which has beenmanufactured with tolerance class f8 to the nominal size. The external diameter isalways slightly under the nominal size. Because of the magnetic forces betweenthe stator and the rotor, this cannot be measured when not installed.
Tolerance class H8 is strongly recommended at the customer site for the machinehole in which the stator is inserted. The hole diameter always has the nominal sizeor slightly larger.The hole at the customer and the 1FW6 stator always form a clearance fit.The stator hole must accommodate the entire length of the stator.A finish quality of RZ = 3.2 is recommended in order to avoid damage to the O-ringswhen inserting the stator, however it must never be more than RZ = 4.0. For thesame reason reason, the hole must have a lead-in chamfer (angle of 15° - 20°).The specifications and information in the current SIMOTICS T-1FW6 ConfigurationManual must be taken into account with regard to quality of the machine hole at thecustomer.

1.2.3 Fits when installing the stator of motors with integrated coolingsystem
The stator of the SIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motor with integrated cooling(1FW6050, 060, 160, 190, 230, 290 series) has a centering collar on each flange,which has been manufactured with tolerance class f8 to the nominal size. Theexternal diameter is always slightly under the nominal size.
Tolerance class H8 is strongly recommended at the customer site for the centeringcollar in which the stator is inserted. The collar diameter always has the nominalsize or slightly larger.For motors with integrated cooling, a centering collar on the machine is sufficientas counterface to the centering collar on the machine. The provision of a centeringcollar on the machine is optional, but strongly recommended.Motors with integrated cooling must only be inserted in a centering collar on theflange that is used for mounting. It is not necessary to insert the stator into amachine hole (enclosure). However, if the stator is installed in a machine hole, itmust have an annular gap of at least 1.5 mm over the entire stator surface and onthe free flange for the thermal expansion of the stator.

1.2.4 Fits when installing the rotor
The rotor of the SIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motor is manufactured withtolerance class H8 to the nominal size. The internal diameter of the rotor ringalways has the nominal size or is larger.The machine shaft at the customer on to which the rotor is to be pushed, should bemanufactured with tolerance class g6 to the nominal size. The external diameter ofthe shaft is always slightly under the nominal size.The shaft and the rotor at the customer site always form a clearance fit.The rotors of frame sizes 1FW6050, 060, 160, 190, 230, 290 have a centeringcollar on both ends of the inner surface.For the centering of the rotor on the shaft, it is sufficient when the shaft or the shaftextension has a centering collar at the end of the rotor seat.Fig. 1-5: 1FW6090, 130, 150 rotor installation types (schematic)

1.3 Mounting motors exclusively via theB flangeDepending on the rated speed, SIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motors havedifferent continuous currents. Motors that have particularly high continuouscurrents (data sheet value) have more complex windings and require a largerconnection space on the A flange (flange with cable outlet) within the motor.Therefore, the A flange is only connected via supporting elements and longer fixingscrews with these kinds of windings.For this reason, this connection cannot transmit the full torque. The full torque isonly available via the B flange (flange without cable outlet). 1.4 Position of the transport locks (as delivered)The transport locks of the SIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motor keep the rotoraway from the stator (motor when not installed) and prevent contact between thecomponents. The position and number of transport locks as delivered differdepending on the frame size and partly also depending on the overall length.In order to make the removal of the transport locks after the installation of themotor as simple as possible, the position of the locks should be taken into accountduring the machine construction. The following views show the respective positionsof the transport locks.

1.5 Spacer filmWith the SIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motors, the stator and the rotor are onlyfixed in their specified concentric position after installation in the customer'smachine. As delivered – before the installation – they are held together by thetransport locks which prevent contact between the stator inside surface and therotor outside surface.As delivered, a spacer film is loosely inserted in the air gap of the 1FW6 built-intorque motor in order to prevent contact between the stator and rotor in the eventof a handling error during assembly or disassembly (all transport locks have beenremoved).The spacer film must be removed from the air gap before the rotor is turned for thefirst time.Data on the film material inserted in the factory:

1.6 Realigning the rotorThe specifications and information in the current Configuration Manual forSIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motors must be taken into account with regardto true running and eccentricity.As a result of incorrect handling before installation, the axes of the rotor and statormay no longer be concentric and consequently the rotor adheres to the insidesurface of the stator due to the magnetic attraction:

3 The suitably cut film is insertedin the remaining, enlarged air gapopposite to the contact point(see marking).
4 The contact point between therotor and stator is pulled over tothe film with a screw clamp.The outer surface of the statormust be protected with paddingthat covers a large area in order todistribute the pressure and preventdeformation.A piece of protective film from theoriginal spacer film is sufficient toprotect the inside surface of therotor.
5 The contact point between therotor and stator on the protectivefilm is prevented from moving backwith a second screw clamp withprotective padding.The clamping screws are movedalternately and tensioned carefullyto move the contact point further tothe middle of the film.

1.7 Angular adjustment for parallel operationFor the electric parallel operation of two SIMOTICS T-1FW6 built-in torque motors,the two motors must be aligned electrically as precisely as possible to one another(caution: not mechanically). One criterion for this is the counter-EMFcharacteristics of both motors. They must not differ by more than 10° electrically.For electric parallel operation of n motors, this applies accordingly for each motor inrelation to a freely selectable motor of the parallel connection.In order to be able to minimize any differences due to manufacturing tolerances,the mounting angle must be able to be adjusted for the stator or the rotor for onemotor (or for n-1 motors).Irrespective of the frame size, a mechanical timing angle amech of +/-1°corresponding to arc b of approx. +/-1.5 mm must be possible (see the diagramin the following figure). In this way, the required adjustment range is alwayscovered.Since the adjustment can always be made by turning the stator or by turning therotor, the maximum required arc is always specified at the air gap (therefore validfor both adjustment methods).
6 The rotor is completely on the filmand no longer has any directcontact with the stator. The secondhalf of the film can now be insertedin the gap to prevent any newdirect contact.The transport locks are placed onthe top side, the fixing screws areinserted and screwed in manually.(You must ensure that the screwsdo not become canted!)
7 The fixing screws are tightenedmanually, whereby the rotor ispulled in the direction of thespecified position.The spacer film must remain in theair gap until the motor is installedin the machine, but removedbefore the rotor turns.

The push-in-fitting must be pushed on to the connection nipple (at least 8 mm) untilthe ring claw snaps into the ring groove of the connection nipple.Caution: Not all of the products available on the market are suitable!
To release the push-in-fitting, press the release ring when the push-in-fitting is notunder tension (see also the respective product data sheet). Otherwise the ring clawcannot be released.
