Worship ServicesJuly 28, 2019

8:30 and 11 a.m.6:30 p.m.

WelcomeTo Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org. You can also visit the desk in our Welcome Center, located behind the sanctuary. Additional seating is available in St. Andrew’s Hall. Ushers are available to direct you.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church, or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Children’s Lobby. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-K through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Children in pre-K through second grade remain in their classrooms until they are picked up by a parent.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (#160) located in the Ebenezer Building behind the sanctuary.

Family RoomThe Telfair Room (#100) is a great place for parents with restless children to watch live feed of the sermon while training young children how to participate in corporate worship. Ushers are available to direct you.

Our DenominationWe are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a denomination “true to the Scriptures, the reformed faith, and obedient to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.” Learn more about the PCA at pcanet.org.

We are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God.

The Meditation—God Is My Shepherd .............................................................Dvorak

†The Call to Worship ............................................................................ Psalm 145:8-13The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.

All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you.

They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Let us worship God!

God is my shepherd, I want for nothing. My rest is in the pleasant meadows. He leadeth me where quiet waters flow.My fainting soul doth he restoreAnd guideth me in the ways of peace,To glorify his name.

And though in death’s dark valley My steps must wander,My spirit shall not fear,For thou art by me still.Thy rod and staff are with me, And they shall comfort me.

Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

§The Corporate Confession of SinHeavenly Father, we tremble at the recognition of our unworthiness, but find comfort because you have given us your Son, Jesus Christ to be our advocate and mediator. Because of Christ, the throne of dreadful glory has become the throne of grace. Father, you are overflowing with so much affection for your children and so ready to forgive that we approach you, fully persuaded that you have no other feelings towards us than those of a father, though we are unworthy of such a father. We acknowledge before your holy majesty that we are poor sinners, prone to do evil, unable of our own power to do good. With heartfelt sorrow we repent and turn away from all our offenses. We condemn ourselves and our evil ways, with true sorrow asking that your grace will relieve our distress. Grant us daily increase of the grace of your Holy Spirit, and produce in us the fruits of holiness and of righteousness pleasing in your sight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Adapted from John Calvin’s Geneva Liturgy & Institutes of the Christian Religion

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Offertory—My Alleluia .......................................................................... Sorenson

**The Offering

Lindsay Canjea, solo

Before I greet the morning sun, before I start the day,I’ll thank you for the things to come, I’ll worship as I pray,I’ll worship as I pray. “Alleluia, alleluia!”

All your children sing worship to their King.Songs of love we bring: “Alleluia, alleluia.”

Before I go to sleep at night, before I close my eyes,I’ll thank you for the things you’ve done and lift my praise on high,I’ll lift my praise on high: “Alleluia, alleluia!”

And when I take my final breath and wake on heaven’s shore,I’ll sing the song I’ve sung before, in praise forevermore,I’ll praise forevermore! “Alleluia, alleluia!”

Hear our praises rise, glory fills the skies, To the Lord Most High: “Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.”© 2011 Hal Leonard Corporation
