Passports Keypoints:Validity–werecommendthatyourpassportmustbevalidforatleastsixmonthsa;eryourplanneddeparturefromEurope(unPlJanuary2017).Ifyouneedanewpassport,applyearly!WaitPmesinAprilandMaycanbeuptotwomonths!Makeacopyofyourpassport–unlessyouwillbetravellingoutsideofKrakow,keepyourpassportinahotelsafeorinasafelocaPonandjustcarrythecopyofyourpassportwithyou.

Childrenunder16–iftheyneedareplacementpassportwhileinKrakow,werequireastatementofconsentfrombothparentstoissuethepassport.GrouporganizersshouldconsiderrequesPngtheparentstocompletethoseformsbeforetheytravel,justincase.

Visas and Other Issues IfanyparPcipantsdonothaveaU.S.passport,youwillneedtochecktoseeifyouneedavisatoenterPoland(andtherestoftheSchengenzone).DualU.S.-PolishciPzensorthosewithpotenPalclaimstoPolishciPzenshipshouldenteranddepartPolandusingaPolishpassport.IfyouareaU.S.ciPzenandalsoaPolishciPzen,orifyouareunsureifyouholdPolishciPzenship,youshouldcontactthenearestPolishconsularofficeforfurtherinformaPon.

Medical Issues CheckyourmedicalinsurancetoseeifyouarecoveredoutsideoftheU.S.BerealisPcaboutyourmedicalcondiPons,asmedicalcapacityandinfrastructureinKrakowareuntestedforhandlingthetwoandahalfmillionparPcipantsexpectedforWorldYouthDay.Doctorsandhospitalsmayexpectcashpaymentpriortotreatment.WerecommendthatvisitorspurchaseprivatemedicalevacuaPoninsurance.

IfyoutakeprescripQonmedicaQon:•  PackenoughtolastyourenPretrip,includingsomeextraincaseyou

areunexpectedlydelayed.•  CarryyourmedicaPonsintheiroriginallabeledcontainers,andpack

theminyourcarry-onbag.•  Askyourpharmacyorphysicianforthegenericequivalentnameof

Money Issues ATMsareavailableinKrakow,andthoseatcommercialbanks,largehotels,shoppingmalls,andairportsarethesafesttouse.ThedemandforcashfromATMsmaybeheavyduringWorldYouthDayandsomeATMmachinesmayrunoutatPmes.MostATMshaveadailywithdrawallimitofapproximatelyUS$250perday.VisitorsshouldfollownormalprecauPonsusingcreditordebitcards,andshouldonlyusecardsatbanksandreputablebusinesses.

Transportation WYDparPcipantswillhavefreeaccesstoKrakow’spublictransportaPonsystem.Thatsaid,thissystemwillnotbeabletoaccommodatethelargenumbersofvisitorsexpectedfortheweek.MostWYDparPcipantswilltravelbyfootfromeventtoevent.Mostroadsinsidethecitywillbejammed.PedestriansshouldbecarefulwhencrossingstreetsorintersecPons,andtraversingparkinglots.Pedestriansshouldusemarkedwalkways,overpasses,orcrosswalks,andnotafempttocrosstrafficindrivingzones,asdriverso;endonotyieldtopedestrianswalkinginthestreets.
