These are the slides from my Ignite Seattle talk from December 2nd, 2009. I talked about how many Americans use online "gov2.0" tools that don't work very well, and how simple tactics can work to increase political power and influence on legislation. I wrestled with using this set of slides. They're a little confrontational---in that I zero in on activist groups that misapropriate activist tools for list building or showing their political power without actually helping their members influence policy in the online activities use. You can see my "safety" slides on my profile, too. --The slides I nearly used. And while you're at it, please vote for Knowledge As Power on Chase Givings' contest --the top 100 vote getters will receive a $25,000 grant (enough to help KAP provide robust legislation-tracking services and civic education in Seattle) and $1 million to the 1st place winner (enough for KAP to expand to 5 states, 5 cities, in 3 years!).
