WORKING WITH AUSTRALIA’S GOLDEN OUTBACK

SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media strategy

• Australia’s Golden Outback’s social media strategy focuses on stimulating conversations about our region through three key platforms -Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

• We create our own content and also search and monitor for user-generated content to help tell our story

• We also need industry-supplied content and that’s where you come in!

You are our heroes

• You are on the front line in our region – you see the sunsets, spot the wildlife and drive the trails

• We need your content to help promote our region to the world

Promote yourself

• Not only does it help us promote AGO, but it helps us promote your business

• We will tag and credit any photography we use, linking to your social media channels and helping promote your business

Facebook

• Like the AGO page

• Upload photos and videos directly to the AGO Facebook wall

• Ensure the caption includes the location of the image and a brief background story

• If your content is posted by us, ensure you are part of the conversation by posting comments and answering questions

• Add AGO as a joint event host when adding your events to Facebook

Instagram

• Follow the AGO Instagram page

• Hashtag your images with: #goldenoutback and tag @australiasgoldenoutback

• Always add #justanotherdayinwa and #seeaustralia so the state and national tourism organisations see your content too

Twitter

• Follow the AGO Twitter account

• Tweet interesting news, photos or videos to: @golden_outback

• Use the hashtag #goldenoutback

Send it direct• If it’s easier, just email any

relevant content to digital@goldenoutback.comand we can then feature on our channels

Images

• Animals and wildlife

• Scenery

• Sunsets

• Sunrises

• High contrast shots; red dirt and blue sky

• Check out our Facebook page to see the kinds of images we (and our audience) love

Video

• Optimum video length is 30 seconds to 1 minute long.

• Square or portrait format preferable

• Suitable copyright-free background music, or no music

• No logos or text - we will always credit and link to your business via our caption

• We can even use 15 second, very basic phone video – it’s perfect for Instagram Stories! Just keep it short and in vertical format

Working together,

we can tell more powerful stories that help drive visitors to the

Golden Outback
