Winners!!Huge congratulations go to our PP5 Relay team who secured first place at the
North Coast Athletics Carnival last Friday in Lismore. The team of Claire, Jaxon,
Hayley and Josie ran their personal best time on the day which bodes well for
the upcoming event in Sydney. The team will travel to Sydney in November to
compete at the State Championships at Olympic Park in Homebush. This is an
outstanding achievement for our students and we congratulate them on this
awesome result.
I urge all four students to take the
initiative and do some personal training
over the holiday to improve their
fitness and aim to be the best they can
be for this elite level of competition.
Mr Curtin will be organising a training
session each week after the holidays to ensure our baton change and speed drills
are maintained leading up to the championships.
NAPLAN ResultsOur NAPLAN results were received at school yesterday and have been provided
to students today. Any parent who would like to discuss their child’s results can
make contact with Mr Curtin to organise a meeting time.
Aladdin PerformanceThe Aladdin Performance at Empire Vale Public School is on at midday next
Monday the 23rd of September. All students need to have their notes and money
returned by TOMORROW. Our school has organised bus transport for all our
students to the performance. This will be at a subsidised cost of $2 per child. This
is a whole school event with no staff remaining at school.

Lake Ainsworth ExcursionAs we near the end of term our organisation for the Lake
Ainsworth Excursion begins in earnest. The excursion
is planned for Week 6 next term from Wednesday 20
November to Friday 22 November. For those parents
who aren’t aware of the program,
Lake Ainsworth runs a very well-
structured program of activities
with experienced staff members
who know how to cater for kids. The
program has been a highlight of our excursion program
for a number of years and students usually come away
saying it’s the best ever experience of their time at
primary school.
We are asking all families to have paid a minimum of $100
before the holiday break. Early next term there is a cut-off
date (imposed by Lake Ainsworth) where it will be too late
to make any changes to the number of students attending
and we will be charged for the total amount regardless of
how many students attend. Parents will need to bear this
cost if they decide their child will not be attending.
Currently consideration is being given to who our parent
helper(s) might be. Those who offered their support will
be informed of the decision before the holiday.
Tell Them From MeThis survey is an opportunity for our school community to
have their say about our school. The survey is endorsed
by the Department of Education (DoE). Whether it
be positive, negative or just some ideas, we welcome
everyone’s feedback by completing the survey. The
survey is completely anonymous. A high response rate
helps schools reliably identify areas of strength and areas
for improvement from the perspective of parents, and
helps inform practical changes where needed.
The survey can be found at
http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/1361
We will have a lucky draw for a $50 gift card to one of our
survey takers as an incentive for completing the survey.
Surveys can be completed on smartphones as well as
tablets, PCs and laptops. The survey closes on Friday 25
October 2019 (Week 2, Term 4).
Telstra KidsTelstra Kids is a program that provides schools with
grants of $1200 simply by linking the school with a Telstra
employee. So, this is a callout to any Telstra employee in
our area who would like to be our sponsor. The process
is very simple.
Eligible Telstra employees will be able to register their
interest for a $1200 Telstra Kids grant on behalf of their
local school. The window for the process is only 10 days
from Tuesday 15th October to Friday 25th October. In
summary the system allocates Telstra Kids grants to a
random selection of employees that have lodged their
online registration by the deadline. The system then
invites these employees to complete the grants process
(very simple) so that the Telstra Foundation can gift the
Telstra Kids grants to their local school, on their behalf.

Telstra Kids grants fund youth projects, run by local
community organisations that support young people to
thrive. There are many different ways community groups
use their Telstra Kids grants but our school would focus on
Digital Literacy Resources.
So, if you are a Telstra employee and you are able to
support us with this program please give Mr Curtin a call.
Before and After School Care - Have Your Say!
The NSW Government is committed to providing before and
after school care to all students of public primary schools
in New South Wales. As part of the reform, a parent web
form has been established by Service NSW that will enable
parents to tell the department about their specific care
needs and to stay up to date with any new developments.
The information provided by parents will help the
Department of Education to understand your needs, give
them insights into where there are gaps in service delivery
and help to ensure the extra places are delivered where
they are required. Have you say today at:
https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc
Pyjama Day FundraiserThank you to everyone for wearing your pyjamas on
Tuesday and supporting our SRC fundraiser. We raised $90
which will go towards supporting children with cancer.
