HDR images rendering in iCAM

Simg726 Final Project Update

Introduction

GUI is designed to show High Dynamic Range (HDR) images rendering techniques in iCAM. There are six free parameters to be set for image rendering. The selection of parameters combination will determine the rendering performance in iCAM. This GUI program is designed to find out optimized parameters combination in the preliminary experiment period and then is used for the advanced psychophysical experiment. Pictorial images are used in this program.

Overview

What’s HDR images?Dynamic Range is the ratio between the Max. and the Min. tone values in a scene.

High Dynamic Range in the world:100 000 000:1 Natural scenes

>10 000:1 Human vision in a single view

100:1 CRT Display

HDR images

Encoding Formats1. Radiance's RGBE Format2. Pixar's Log Format 3. SGI's LogLuv Format

Capturing HDR images1. Multi-exposure techniques: combination of multiple images

of the same scene with different F-number aperture or exposure time

2. Multiple image detectors (Saito and Ikeda)3. CCD, sensor design…
