WHY NOT PINOY ANIMATION CONTENT ?

Presented by

Grace A. Dimaranan

Animator, Creative Director, Producer & Art Teacher

January 26, 2008

Factors that influenced the development of the Animation Sector

Early 80’s -90’s only foreign-owned companies

existed in the country. Trend is service oriented, follow what is instructed ,

draw / animate it, get paid. Each Animation step is separated by Departments. We are into Traditional Animation. There are no school for animation. All artists are

trained in-house. We have expats as Directors & supervisors.

Getting a bigger piece of the pie…

Late 90’s, India & China entered the business & offered half prices/cost in production.

Some big companies/ clients transferred operations to India or China.

Piracy of artists. The Animation & Creative sector doesn’t receive

support from any Govt. / private agency. Small Filipino-owned animation companies started to

grow in the Industry & access direct clients.
