Transcript of Why EBCLA Matters: Humility

OUR VISIONGod is forming EBCLA into a Faith Village: a unique social

community whose life together is both a picture and a preview of what God is doing in and for all of creation.

OUR MISSION & CORE VALUESWe exist to be and bring Christ’s hope, humility, and hospitality to the world, and thus our mission must be to train heroic apprentices of Jesus who clearly embrace and embody biblical reconciliation and missional living.

Our mission and core values should drive our culture and should be the foundation for why we do what we do. Every important decision we make should be measured against these standards.

HOPE HUMILITY HOSPITALITY

C.S. Lewis HumilityNot thinking less of yourself But thinking of yourself less.

What does humility look like?Humility is selfless, not selfish. It doesn't demand its own way or speak with moral superiority. Instead, humility answers softly and listens kindly for understanding, not vindication. Humility recognizes that no one can change someone else, but with faith, effort, and the help of God, we can undergo our own mighty change of heart.

Our Hope grows as we become more and more rooted in the love of Jesus.

LOVE OF CHRIST

Our Humility emerges from our Hope as we become less selfish and more giving.

Being humble means recognizing that we are not on earth to see how important we can become, but to see how much difference we can make in the lives of others.

Missional Living includes replanting forests to restore habitats and improve the lives of those who live there.
