Why chiropractic?

For me, it was a life changed…

For me, it was a life changed…

…more than once…

April 24, 2008

My first experience with Chiropractic was in Indianapolis

after being harassed by coworker into going to her DC (Dr Bob Killingbeck)

for my “pinched nerve”. After two adjustments, I had relief from years of numbness & tingling that traveled

down my left arm.

After seeing my x-rays, I opted to keep getting adjusted after the

pain was relieved. When I transferred back to Texas, I found a DC in McKinney (Dr Sammy Hardin) so I could continue getting adjusted.

My job in Quality Engineering required a bit of business travel & I forgot my Claritin on a trip that was extended from a couple of days to

over a week – back then Claritin was prescription only & I took it daily for

year round allergies.

I realized mid-trip that I did NOT need the Claritin. What

changed?

The only thing I was doing differently – getting adjusted

weekly!

Why am I at Parker? Because chiropractic changed my LIFE!

And, I wanted to help others the way I had been helped…but, even after several years of

weekly adjustments, I was pretty clueless about chiropractic… …

Parker is curing the cluelessness…

"Chiropractic" comes from the

Greek word Chiropraktikos,

meaning "effective treatment by

hand."

However, today’s

chiropractic treatment may

also include mind-body

techniques & techniques

with instrumentation…

According to Gray's Anatomy, the nervous

system is the master system in the body and as such,

controls and coordinates all other systems (such as respiratory,

digestive, muscular, immune,…)

The nervous system includes the brain, spinal

cord, the spinal nerves that exit the vertebral column through openings on the

sides of each vertebra, and all the peripheral nerves that branch off to serve organs, tissues, blood vessels, muscles, etc…

Information from the environment, both

external and internal, goes through the spine to get

to the brain.

Chiropractic is a healing art based on the importance of

a normally functioning nervous system

(focused on the spine, and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts

of the body).

Chiropractic stresses the idea that many disease processes

begin with the body's inability to adapt to its environment or

DIS-ease.

Chiropractors also counsel patients on the importance of

nutrition and motion as well as lifestyle modifications for

promoting optimal physical and mental status.

We never found the stone from my ring!

Thanks to chiropractic, my hands (& spine) are on the

road to recovery…
