Purpose The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of OTOMATIP Cloud HIS Hospital Information System in general and provide more technical details about to HIS related products. The architecture part provides more insight in the way OTOMATIP Cloud HIS is built up and projected in the hospitals ICT infrastructure.
Scope Features described in this document apply to OTOMATIP Cloud HIS version 8.8.4.
Target audience
The target audience of this document is Hospital Management Staff Members, Ministry of
Health IT Strategy Decision Makers who are involved in the process of selecting an Cloud
Hospital Information System Software solution and need an understanding of OTOMATIP
Cloud HIS system functionality and available options. Staff members responsible for
implementing the system in the existing ICT and technical infrastructure will find the most

Hardware and Software Platform
Firewalls The internet access must be protected by a Firewall. In case HIS clients are to be used as access devices to hospital services a firewall is needed to assure a safe con-nection between Remote Users and the Private Cloud HIS network. Additionally the Private Cloud HIS servers are advised to have a firewall and virus scanner installed. HIS servers The primary server operates with Windows Server 2012 version. The hardware is not to be delivered by ESIM, but our Integrator Partners can deliver excellent services, based on the specifications prescribed by ESIM. The security policies is also strictly provided by our Integrator Partners. Hyper-V servers
Microsoft® Hyper-V™ Server 2012 is a stand-alone product that provides a reliable and optimized virtualization solution enabling organizations to improve server utilization and reduce costs. Since Hyper-V Server is a dedicated stand-alone product, which contains only the Windows Hypervisor, Windows Server driver model and virtualization components, it provides a small footprint and minimal overhead. It easily plugs into customers’ existing IT environments, leveraging their existing patching, provisioning, management,
support tools, processes, and skills. Some of the new key new features that are available in Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 are live migration, cluster shared volume support and expanded processor and memory support for host systems.
OTOMATIP HIS System can be easily integrated within with Microsoft virtualization products, as well as the collective knowledge of the community, minimizing any learning curve. In addition, with Microsoft providing comprehensive support for Microsoft applications and heterogeneous guest operating systems, customers can virtualize with confidence and peace of mind.
The Private Cloud HIS is installed on Windows Server 2012 to get application failover capabilities or flexible and cost-effective virtualization rights (one free virtual instance for Standard Edition, four free virtual instances for Enterprise Editions, and unlimited virtual instances for Datacenter Edition with the purchase of a license of Windows Server 2012), and flexible and cost-effective virtualization rights.
Operators Operators maintain the OTOMATIP HIS system by a web based administrator account. Each operator has a personal login and password. The different parts of the Manager can be accessed but based
on the read, write, add and delete rights each operator has been given by the main operator (administrator). In this way it is possible to give access rights to the content part of the system without having access to the technical setup of the system.
Software Architecture
Microsoft Entity Framework 4.5
When one takes a look at the amount of code that the average application developer must write to address the impedance mismatch across various data representations (for example objects and relational stores) it is clear that there is an opportunity for improvement. Indeed, there are many scenarios where the right framework can empower an application developer to focus on the needs of the application as opposed to the complexities of bridging disparate data representations.
A primary goal was using ADO.NET to raise the level of abstraction for data programming, thus helping to eliminate the impedance mismatch between data models and between languages that application developers would otherwise have to deal with. Two innovations that make this move possible are Language-Integrated Query and the ADO.NET Entity Framework. The Entity Framework exists as a new part of the ADO.NET family of technologies. ADO.NET will LINQ-enable many data access components: LINQ to SQL, LINQ to DataSet and LINQ to Entities.
An ideal environment for creation of business applications allow ESIM Software developers to describe the business logic and state of the problem domain which
they are modeling with minimum or no "noise" coming from the underlying representation and the infrastructure that supports it. Applications should be able to interact with the stores that maintain the persistent state of the system in the terms of the problem domain; specifically in the terms of a conceptual domain model, completely separated from the logical schema of the underlying store.
OTOMATIP HIS is written in general purpose, object oriented programming language C#. These programming languages and their surrounding development environments model business entities as classes and their behaviors as code. To contrast with this, ADO.NET so far has exposed data from databases as "values", that is, as rows and columns. In order to interact with databases, applications have to deal with the impedance mismatch that exists between the data and the application code; this includes both the way queries are formulated and the way results are exposed.
The ADO.NET Entity Framework includes an object services layer that reduces, and often eliminates, this impedance mismatch.
HTML5 is used to develope Operating System independent graphical user interface within the Cloud HIS application. Mobile devices with iOs, Android and Windows8 operating systems can connect Cloud HIS without any modifications.
Server Hardware
ESIM does not supply the servers but our Integrator Partners delivers all the needed IT Infrastructure to get a good performance according to the desired specifications for Private Cloud. Although each system differs, in general some presumptions can be made. The number of cores is depending on the number of clients. A solution with up to 100 clients must be supported by 2 cores. Up to 400 clients needs 4 cores and large systems with larger than 1.000 clients will preferably have 10 cores CPU. The type of cores also depends on the numbers of Hospitals that runs on the server. The internal memory will exist from 144 Gbyte (1000+ clients) for each Private Cloud Servers. The Private Cloud HIS servers servers is depended from number of Hospitals which will connect to Private Cloud. Each server must have 4 CPU(10 Core) and virtualised servers are managed by VMware or Hyper V. Redundancy Redundancy strategy The ESIM OTOMATIP Cloud HIS redundancy strategy is based on redundant storage of data in combination with a virtualised servers that can be enabled in case of a nonfunctioning some of the primary portal servers. On the client site no data is stored. The replacement of a malfunctioning terminal is easy and does not require more precaution then a certain number of spare units. Storage redundancy All data within the OTOMATIP HIS system is to be stored redundantly. In the
simplest case this is performed using a RAID 5 configuration that support the failure of one HDD’s. For Private Cloud use of a high availability network storage solution is preferred, with automatic and fast backup functionality. Secondary Servers The secondary virtual servers is configured as backup servers, meaning that the same software version as the primary server is installed and that this server is ready to take over the role of primary servers after restoring the latest database. Disaster recovery Disaster recovery is to be performed when data is lost, despite the redundant storage. System Center 2012 –Data Protection Manager (DPM) enables disk-based and tape-based data protection and recovery for servers such as SQL Server, Exchange Server, SharePoint, virtual servers, file servers, and support for Windows desktops and laptops. DPM can also centrally manage system state and Bare Metal Recovery (BMR). The Live Migration feature in Windows Server 2012 allows us to have highly available Hyper-V virtual machines. A catastrophe is a backup administrator’s worst nightmare. The Cloud gives here the right solution which works better and means less effort on his part – backing up the data to the cloud from where he can
