WHINSEC Open House ToursSaturday, November 21, 2009
• For the ninth year, WHINSEC is offering informational opportunities to those who come to Columbus each November for the protests.
• Groups and individuals are welcome, just check out the commandant’s invitation on the next slide.
• Meeting place will be the area near the South Lumpkin Road gate into Fort Benning, same as the past eight years.
• There will be three tours offered. Meeting times at the gate are: 8:30am, 10:30am, or 1:30pm.
• As each tour loads, it will be bused up the hill to Ridgway Hall. In Ridg-way Hall, a panel will be assembled to address the questions of visitors. The panel varies a bit, but always includes the commandant, the Insti-tute’s Democracy and Human Rights Program director, the Institute chaplain, a State Department representative, an Army representative, and a present or former member of the Board of Visitors (sometimes both).
• Following the panel discussion, which usually lasts an hour plus, the buses will drive through the WHINSEC campus on the way back to the pick-up site.
• Contact the WHINSEC Public Affairs Officer for inclusion in the tours:whinsec-pao@conus.army.mil or phone (706) 545-1923
Visitors prepare to enter Ft. Benning, and then go through a quick security check.
