“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw o the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”Mark Twain
Atlas Sailing offer UK and foreign yacht charter aboard
their vessels based in Fleetwood in the UK and from
various locations abroad, although their main foreign
base is Athens. In the UK Atlas Sailing are the only
company accredited and offering practical IYT courses
(International Yacht Training) from beginner right up to
Ocean Yachtmaster.
Introduction and information about Atlas.
Page 4
The type of charter offered is available for corporate
hire, leisure hire and also for people wishing to
increase their level of sailing qualifications.
Virtually any length of charter is available from Half
Days up to trips of several weeks and the yachts can
be chartered for exclusive use or by joining other
guests on a particular trip.
You don’t necessarily need any previous experience to
enjoy sailing with Atlas and under the guidance of your
Skipper you can have as much or as little involvement
as you like, however, it’s very rare for people not to
have a go at the helm.

UK based.
Our flagship yacht Atlas, based at Fleetwood Marina,
Lancashire. She is a Bavaria 50 and is 50 feet long
and weighs just less than 13 tons, with a potential
120m2 of sail and a 75hp inboard diesel engine. Such
a substantial yacht provides far greater stability at sea
than a smaller yacht.
Internal accommodation comprises of 5 two berth cabins
and 3 bathrooms; each bathroom contains a toilet and a
shower, and remember, they’re called ‘heads’ when you’re
on a boat. There is a spacious dining area / saloon along
with a well equipped kitchen / galley and chart table and
navigation area. Outside there are two steering wheels and
a spacious cockpit with a table and seating.

We have several yachts available from Athens ranging
from 6 to 12 berths and from 40-70ft in length with
all vessels having a similar range of comforts as our
flagship, Atlas. For larger groups we can arrange
multiple yachts giving groups the opportunity to race
from island to island over the period of a week. This is
know as the Atlas Challenge and of course there are
prizes for the winners.

Andy Dobson heads up our team and has many years
experience of international sailing under his belt. Andy
is qualified to the highest level in both RYA and IYT
which is not something many sailors can lay claim to.
Andy is also a very competent musician and speaks
fluent German.Skipper

Julie (Andy’s wife) is the main hostess you will come
into contact with. You will be amazed at what culinary
delights will be served up whilst out on the water
and in the past this has been achieved in some very
challenging conditions. Julie also has a wealth of
sailing experience.Host

Our UK base is Fleetwood Haven Marina which has
been awarded ‘4 Gold Anchors’ by the Yacht Harbour
Association. Fleetwood offers excellent access to
the Irish Sea and beyond. With being part of the
Associated British Ports group, guests can be assured
that the marina facilities are exceptional.e home of Atlas Sailing
Page 10
Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea offers some of
the UK’s most exhilarating sailing opportunities with
destinations such as Piel Island (just off the Furness
Peninsula) within a relaxed day’s sail. It should be
noted that Piel Island has its own King & Queen. Other
destinations such as The Isle of Man, Anglesey and the
North Wales coast, Northern and Southern Ireland and
Scotland are all within a couple of days of sailing.
Terrestrial transport links to Fleetwood are generally
very good with easy access to the national motorway
and rail networks.

Atlas Sailing’s main foreign base is Alimos Marina on
the outskirts of Athens, with several yachts available
from here. The marina has accommodation for 1000
boats and is a mere 10 miles from the centre of Athens
and 20 miles from the airport. It has excellent land
based transport connections, including trains, buses
and trams, to the surrounding areas. Athens airport
Atlas abroad
Page 12
has excellent low cost flight connections from several
airports in the UK, with services on most days of the
week. Our guests often combine an Atlas cruise with a
few extra days in Greece. Atlas also arrange all airport
transfers.
In addition to our operations from Athens, we can also
offer charters throughout the world, such as Spain,
South East Asia & the Caribbean and would be happy
to organise a particular destination for you, perhaps for
a particular event.
Page 13
Many companies use Atlas Sailing for corporate
entertaining. Very few people have ever been on a
large, sumptuous yacht, so the experience is one they
won’t forget and, of course, it’s an experience that
your company will have given them the opportunity to
enjoy.Corporate hospitality and team bonding
Page 14
Although we offer the opportunity of chartering
several vessels at one time from our Greek base, yacht
charter could never be viewed as a ‘mass corporate
entertainment event’. Instead, chartering a yacht allows
you to take a select group of customers out on a trip
they will always remember.
We take groups of 6-8 people per vessel and people
can be as involved in the sailing as much or as little as
they like. Because everyone is in such close proximity
to each other, it means that you have plenty of time
to interact with your guests. This can’t be said of many
other corporate entertainment events.
Page 15
Relationship Building
Being on a yacht is perfect for building relationships.
With guests being in such a close proximity and
sharing the exhilarating experience that sailing offers,
it gives an ideal platform for colleagues to build,
renew or refresh their current relationship. There are
no outside interruptions, so the team can get on with
operating the yacht under the guidance of the Skipper.
Page 16
Sailing Experience Days
Sailing is definitely the most amazing and different
choice to entertain, have fun, excite and meet the
needs of all clients of different levels, age, sex and
culture. Why not introduce your friends or clients to
the spirit of adventure with some full and meaningful
contact with nature? You cannot fail to impress clients
in this informal atmosphere with a new, fascinating and
original experience.
Page 17
Sta Reward or Incentive Key points for a team:
• Work as a team and work in sync
• Respect roles and recognise leadership
• Adapt quickly to changing situations
• Manage the unforeseen
• Operate with limited resources
A tight knit team is not formed automatically just because
people are on the same boat. It is formed with step by step
training, learning and practice. A sailing experience permits
building a real team in a short period of time.
Page 18
A Sailing HolidayIf after everything, you’re just looking for a holiday that
offers something completely different, then a 7 day
cruise with Atlas is the answer. You can choose to do
as much or as little as you like when out on the water,
and the beauty of a sailing holiday is that you can
reach places that are not affected by mass tourism, so
you are guaranteed an authentic foreign experience.
Page 19
UK Fleetwood Base.
Fleetwood has good links to the rest of the UK, with
both the national rail and motorway networks being
within half an hour. There are even several international
airports within easy reach too. Atlas chauffeur driven
transfer is included in many of our packages.
Preston station is on the west coast mainline with
several trains an hour to London (2h 15m), Glasgow &
Edinburgh (2h 30m), Manchester (45m) and Leeds (1h
50m), amongst other places.
Athens.
Athens has regular services from Edinburgh,
Manchester and Gatwick throughout the week, from
airlines such as Easyjet. The marina is only 20 miles
from the airport and 10 miles from the centre of
Athens. We include airport transfers in all of our prices,
although Alimos Marina has excellent train, bus and
tram connections throughout the surrounding area.
