Junior Coach Program Update
Stars StoreIf you missed the chance to order Stars gear in the fall, you’ll have
another chance in February.
Looking for a specific item that wasn’t available before? Let us know
and we may be able to add it!
This year, Stars players age 14 and up have the opportunity to pass on their experience to players on our youth teams through our new volunteer Junior Coach Program. Junior Coaches
will assist the head coaches of our youth teams from winter practices, through the summer season (as their own school and baseball schedule allows). This is an awesome opportunity
to get some experience for those aspiring young coaches!
Please congratulate the following group of 2019 Junior Coaches!
Ethan Miller – Cole Winiecki – Nathan ZarkowskyNoah Short – Austin North
Do you have a Stars player age 14 or older interested in this program? If so, there is still availability for this season! Click the link below to apply.

Final PaymentsJust a reminder that all payments for 2019 program fees are due March 1.
If you chose the March 1 payment plan, any remaining payments will
automatically be processed on February 1 and March 1.
The teams below are fundraising (or will be soon) for their out-of-state/overnight tournaments! Please reach out to the team parent below to help our teams get to their tournaments. As other teams determine their tournament plans, we will let you know if there’s other opportunity to help.

Practice JerseysPractice jerseys are also in, and most have been handed out at practice. If you
haven’t picked yours up, be sure to ask your team parent.
You should get two shirts: one grey cotton t-shirt with the Stars circle logo, and one dark blue “Property of the Lake County Stars” dry fit t-shirt.
Also just as a reminder, please wear baseball pants and a hat to practice!
Stars GearIf the Stars Gear you ordered before the holidays
was backordered, it’s in and will be distributed within the next couple of weeks. Look for your team parent to have it for you at an upcoming
practice!
Also, we will open up the online store again in February for another opportunity to get your
Stars Gear before the season begins. If there’s an item you’d like to have available, let us know!

Thank you! This year’s referral program was
an absolute success, as we added 42 new players who were referred
by a current Stars family!
If you referred a new player to the Stars and didn’t get your $100
referral bonus yet, they are handed out to parents at practice. So be sure to stop inside and find
your team parent to pick it up.
USA bat rules will not be mandatory for MSBL games in 2019. We will follow the same USSSA bat rules from 2018.
This is done to lessen the financial impact on families.
Please note that USSSA Baseball Tournaments and Gameday USA have decided not to follow the new USA bat rules for 2019 as well. Other tournaments may have different restrictions so be sure to check your tournament rules.
If you have a new USA approved bat, you can use it in League play for MSBL.
For a bat to be legal it must be permanently marked“1.15 BPF” or “BBCOR” or “USA” or be a wood bat. There are NO barrel restrictions.
The U14 division will be the only division that must use a -5 or -3 bat.

Come out to Main Street, on February 9th, for a Parents and Coaches Clinic with Washington National Scout Mike Daughtry. Mike was a highly touted college pitcher out of the state of Texas that was selected in the wrong draft. After serving his time in the Military, Daughtry returned to his love of sports by coaching high school baseball for 14 years. During this time Daughtry got his feet wet in the MLB by locally scouting part time for the Philadelphia Phillies. Starting in 1986, Daughtry spent 2 years with the Major League Scouting Bureau, and since, has scouted for the Rangers, Diamondbacks and now the Washington Nationals. During the off-season, while residing in St. Charles, Mike Daughtry has influenced the lives of many young, local baseball players, including a few of our very own coaches. Not only does Daughtry offer the highest level of expertise in his lessons, but he is most known for the time, planning, and dedication he puts into his yearly showcases in St. Charles, aimed at giving young, local players a shot to show some of his many coaching contacts what they can do.
Mike will be sharing some of his general philosophies, coaching tactics, and Pro-sponsored training equipment. Time for individual questions is expected.
