Bring your group to Tennessee’s second oldest town and see why we boast of our rich historical past and our breathtaking mountain views. Groups can tour Andrew Johnson’s early home and homestead, wander through the many exhibits in his museum and be thrilled by his ghost walking through the tailor shop where he worked and where many spirited debates occurred. Visit Monument Hill where Andrew Johnson and several members of his family are laid to rest. Also visit Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park with its replica of the cabin in which Crockett was born. Encased in front of the cabin is an engraved marker reported to have been the footstone of the original cabin. The park also includes the Visitor’s Center and Museum, campsites, swimming pool and three scenic picnic areas.
Enjoy professional performances at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center, tour the Dickson-
Williams Mansion, once known as the “Showplace of East TN”, visit the
oldest college west of the Allegheny Mountains, Tusculum College, dine at Brumley’s on Main Street or relax at one of our many hotels from a quaint historic railroad Inn in the heart of downtown to quality chain hotels within walking distance of dining and shopping.
Is your group Civil War enthusiasts? How about visiting the spot where General John Hunt Morgan was shot and killed in 1864, see the cannonball that still rests in the side of Cumberland Presbyterian Church or visit the site of the “Hangings at the Depot” where, after being sentenced to death, Henry Fry and Jacob Hinshaw were marched up Depot Street and hanged for their crimes.
