The Annual General Meeting of the West Pymble Bicentennial Club Limited will be held on Sunday 27th November 2016 at the Clubhouse commencing at 10.00 am. It has been an honour and a pleasure to serve you as Chairman this year.
This report relates to the Registered Club. The Bowling Club will report separately.
Thefinancialresultsfortheyearended30June2018showsthatwehavehadanothersuccessfulyear,whichhashelpedusconsolidatethepreviousyearsresults.Weareinahealthierpositionfinancially,improvedbankbalanceandawell-supportedclubinbowlingandsocialmembers.Thetreasurerwillgiveamorecomprehensivereportonourfinances.
OurbowlingnumberswereboostedwithseveralGordonbowlersseeingourclubastheirnewhome.TheBowlsCommitteehasworkedhardthisyearandhavebeenabletoattractafewmorenewmembers.Toallnew‘Kooka’s”welcome.OurbowIernumbershaveincreasedfrom61to63agrowthof2%.IwouldliketothanktheBowlingCommitteeforre-instillingasenseofprideofinbeingaKookateammember!Oursocialmembershipgrewsignificantlythisyear.From1167to1522,anincreaseof30%.Thishasresultedinincreasednumbersattheclub,especially from Thursday.
The future of the club is increased members, both bowlers and the social.
TheBoardhascommenceddocumentingastrategicplan.Thedirectionofthestrategicplancamefromasurveyconductedwithmembersoftheclublastyear.Thestrategicdirectionisaimedtoimprovethefollowingkeyareas:
• Increasethepatronageoftheclub–lookingtobetteridentifypotentialmembersandimprovedtargetedmarketingtothesesegments.
• Buildonourstrengths–community,localityandfacilities
• Capitaliseonouropportunities–membership,familiesandsuccessionplanning
• Bettermanageourthreats–bowlsmembership,Boardsuccession,maintenance&upkeep,competition,legislationandeconomyand
• Decreasesourweaknesses–communications,upkeepofClub,communitysportingclub’sinvolvementandmarketing.
Over the next 12 months the board needs to steer this ship to address the above key areas.

Thelast12monthshavebeenchallenging!Tobeabletoworkwithateamthathasenabledtheclubtoreachthisstrongerpositionthatiswellsupported by the community has been very rewarding.
IthasbeenanothersuccessfulyearfortheWestPymbleBicentennialClubwiththeclubcontinuingtogofromstrength to strength. We have seen an increase in the key areas of the club in terms of membership, both social and bowls along with an increase in patronage and turn over.
Theclubhasseenturnoverincreasefrom$984kto$1,124kupby$140kor14%whichisafantasticresult.Theprevious issues of the amount owing to the ATO has been resolved and the club is up to date with its payments to them with no outstanding historical liability and suppliers are being paid within the terms of trade.
Thenetsurplusfortheclubforthe2017/18financialyearwas$30,156whichisdownonthepreviousyearbutisa strong performance considering the club has been addressing refurbishment and maintenance issue that it has not been previously able to address due to cash constraints. Items addressed include plumbing issues from aging pipes,greasetrapissuesandrenovationstoboththemen’sandwomen’stoilets.Other itemshavebeentheadditionof3highdefinitiontelevisionsforthebararea,afacelifttotheoutsideareawithanoceanbluepaint.
Fromabowlingperspective,thetournamentgreenisinthebestconditionforbowlingthatishasbeenforseveralyears.Thisisinpartduetoamajorrenovationduringlastsummerwhichincludedthegreenbeinglaserleveledforthefirsttimeinmanyyears.Thesurroundstothegreenshaveseensomemajormaintenancetoimprovethefacilitiesforthepatronsoftheclub.
A key driver for net surplus was again an increase in the bar sales turnover with an increase of over $65k which isareflectionofthestrongsupportshownbythepatronsandthelocalcommunity.Thisalongwithincreaseddemandfortheclubscateringserviceshasbeenapositiveresult.
The increased patronage and strengthening diversity for the club members has resulted in increase cost and thus reducedtheprofitabilityasapercentagebutthisisduetotheincreasedlevelsofserviceprovidedtopatronsreflectingtheincreaseinregularcustomers.
DuringtheyeartheclubwelcomedmembersfromtheGordonBowlingClub.Theiradditiontoboththeclubandbowlshasbeenterrificandwearethankfultothemfortheirsupport.
Thebalancesheetpositionhasagainimprovedonthepreviousyearwithanincreaseofnetequityof$30k.Tradecreditorscontinuetobepaidasandwhentheyfalldue.

Amanda was the President of the West Pymble Netball Club (WPNC) for 6yearsandontheexecutiveofWPNCforover20years.AmandahasbeeninvolvedwithRepresentativeNetballatAssociationlevelfor10years. Amanda has been involved in the admin of WPBC for many years. Amandaworksinmarketingandadministration.
Chris has been a bowling member of the West Pymble Bicentennial Club forseveralyears.Chrisrunsasuccessfulbusinessintheautomotiveindustry and brings to the club a wealth of knowledge in areas of events, sponsorships and business acumen.
Arthur has been a member of WPBC for 17 yrs and a bowling member for9yrsandaBoarddirectorfor8yrs.ArthurhasbeentheMen’sPresident for the past 2 years and Vice Pres for 5yrs prior. Arthur has beeninvolvedwithWPNCfor9yearsonthecommittee,aselectorandcoach.ArthurhasmanagedhisownAutomotivebusinessforover20yrs.
BronwynisalongtermresidentofWestPymble,retiredfromCBAafter20years,holdingpositionsofSeniorCustomerServiceOfficerandTeller.BronwynwasinvolvedwithWarraweeandKuringaiNetballClubsholdingvariouspositionswiththeseClubs.BronwynjoinedWestPymbleBicentennialClubseveralyearsagoandisanactivebowlingmember
