WELCOME TO WORLD HISTORY

• Note book• Pen/pencil• Folder• Almanac/Atlas are left in classroom• Organizer- students should write down

Cornell Notes• This year we have

introduced Cornell Notes• This method has your

child revisiting their notes to reinforce the lesson.

• Visit the Note Taking section for information and video link or ask your child

Teacher Webpage The students will be using my webpage quite often.

Please have them get into the habit of checking it regularly.

It is also help for the parents to check from time to time so they can monitor where we are in class.

Also when your child is lost or confused most of the information or directions will be there to help.

We will also be trying the “Remind” App

Grade

• Tests• Quizzes• Assessments• Homework / Class work• Projects/Writing• Mid-term• Final• If the student maintains an A (92 or above)

average for the first 3 MPs he/she will be excused from almost all 4th MP homework!

• The students can sign up for the program that will send them text messages

• It allows me to send a reminder before tests, quizzes, projects, etc.

• You can sign up as well

REQUIRED RESEARCH PAPER

• Library / research skills• Bibliography• Thesis• Outline• Internal Citations• Rough draft • Final, organized paper; must follow

directions• Turnitin.com

WE WILL BE EXPLAINING HOW TO CREATE A RESEARCH PAPER IN

GREAT DETAIL! OUR GOAL IS TO MAKE IT AS PAINLESS AS POSSIBLE.

IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT HAND IN A PAPER, THE PAPER DOES NOT

CONTAIN INTERNAL CITAITONS OR IT IS PLAGIARIZED HE/SHE WILL BE

TAKING WORLD HISTORY AGAIN NEXT YEAR!

PROJECTSIn addition to the research paper the students will be:•Planning a Virtual Trip (There are two parts and they count as part of the mid-term and final)•Presenting reports•Evaluating primary source articles

Extra Help

• I (We) will be available before and after school

• It is better to let us know ahead of time if they know they need to come in

• AM CRAM SESSIONS are available on the day of a test or quiz (helps ease test anxiety)
