Things you need to know• 3 group rotation in afternoons – PE will be

either Wed/Thurs afternoon and Fri morning• Wednesday and Thursday – Outdoor Learning.• Check website regularly for weekly updates.• Check the P1 window for notices and posters.• Homework will be on the website and in

Reading Records and will include a weekly Literacy and Numeracy/Maths task.

• Reading folders need to be in their bags every day.

Things you need to know• Please only wave at your child when they are

at the front of line.• At drop off, please let us know of any

important information, for example, if someone else is picking up your child.

• Lunch – please order with your child to check they like it.

• Please label your child’s belongings, including water bottles.

Things you need to know• Please check your child’s bag every day.• Your child can bring in a toy on a Friday only

for Golden Time. If it is something particularly special please do not bring it in.

• If it is your child’s birthday, please do not bring in sweet treats.

The Literacy Rich Programme teaches children how spoken words are made of sounds called phonemes and how letters represent these sounds.

We teach the letter sound, not the name.

It is important to say the sounds clearly and not add an emphasis e.g. ‘ssssss’ and not ‘si’.

The Jolly Phonics songs are on the P1 section on the website so that you can practise the sound each letter makes along with the actions at home.

We follow the school policy of teaching cursive handwriting from P1.

All letters start from the line on an upward stroke.

sand/paint/shaving foam/oats)• Encourage lower case• Upper case for names of people and places• Finger Gym

• Oxford Reading Tree, including an extended story.

SEAL – Stages of Early Arithmetical Learning

Throughout the year we will be learning:

– Counting – oral counting, counting collections

– Numerals – recognition, sequencing and pattern

– Addition – using ‘counting on’ and partitioning

– Number Structure - Dice, pairs and finger patterns

Supporting Numeracy at homeNumeracy:• Counting objects, sounds and movements• Count the number of steps/ stairs• Numerals at home and in the local environment e.g.

clock, telephone, bus, car number plates etc• Play family games with dice, playing cards and dominos
