Welcome To Mrs. Myers’

7th Grade

A Little Bit About Me..• My favorite color is purple. • My favorite thing to do is spend time in my

garden or with my kids and husband. I also like to do cemetery exploring.

A Little Bit About Me.. •I’m married. My husband’s name is Matthew Myers. He is in the Army Reserves and works for security at Time Warner Cable News.

•I have two kids, Michael & Katelyn,

A Little Bit About Me..• Katelyn attends West Johnston as a senior

• Michael lives in CT right now finishing up school

• I am very OCD about my desk being organized and no one touch it, but over all I am pretty laid back & a relaxed person. • One of my pet peeves is when I have to repeat directions

multiple times. I will direct you to where the information is.

My Expectations

• Come to class everyday with a positive attitude

• Willing to participate and ready to learn• Ask questions frequently or if you need help• Complete all assigned work on time

My Commitment As A Teacher

• I will provide extra help for any student who needs it. It’s your responsibility to let me know you need help.

• Set high expectations for you and challenge you to grow beyond your comfort zone

• I will work hard to make sure you develop the skills and work habits necessary for success in future science classes

Classroom ProcedureEntering

• Enter classroom quietly & get out all needed materials for class.

• Sharpen pencils, throw away trash, etc.

• Take out homework and set it on your desk

• Write down homework in agenda (will be listed on the board)

• Leave agenda out. I will come around & sign it.

• Sit down quietly• Start working on Warm Up

Exiting

• The bell doesn’t dismiss you, I do.• When it’s time to go, don’t

move, stay in your seat, I will not dismiss you until you are quiet.

• Make sure area is clean, and free from garbage

• I will tell you when you are able to leave, and when you are, you are to stand up, push in your chair and exit quietly

Discipline & Consequences

Class DojoOnce you have 3 negatives on Class Dojo…1.You will then be “stamped.”2.If behavior continues, you will be “bounced” to either Mr. Burton’s or Ms. Taylor’s class, with a phone call to home.3.Next will be a conference with you and your teachers. Your parent or guardian will be notified of our meeting.4.Office referral will be the last consequence if behavior does not improve.

Agendas

Your Agenda needs to be with you at ALL times.You will need it:To Write in HomeworkAs a “Communigator” with your parent or guardian

CurriculumSo, What are you going to learn in 7th Grade Science?

Weather…atmosphere, storms, weather mapping, clouds,

Human Body…11 systems of the body…skeletal, muscular, circulatory, excretory, respiratory

Genetics…punnett squares, pedigrees, DNA, cloning, selective breeding, genotypes,

Physics….Laws of Newton, simple machines, force, motion, speed,

Supplies• Anything you need…paper, construction paper,

stapler, hole puncher, etc is on the book shelf for you. Those are yours to use.

• Please do NOT take anything off of my desk. If there’s something that you need, just ask me.

• Please have respect for my supplies. You should have your own colored pencils, highlighters, rulers etc. If you don’t I have some for you to use in the baskets on your desks. Do not break them or throw them. Don’t leave them all around the room

• I have crayons, markers and scissors. Please make sure everything is put back and neat as you found it.

Come to Class Prepared

• If you forget your materials, you may use mine. If you use my pencil, you must leave me your shoe. Please give me my pencils back after class is done and you can get your shoe back.

• If your pencil needs sharpening, trade it with one of my pencils that are already sharpened

• Remember to not touch anything on either of my desks. Ask me, and I will gladly get you what you need.

Where do I put my Work?

• Homework and Class work will be left on desk until documented that it is complete. If it needs to be turned in it will get collected by another student or me.

• Quizzes or tests will be turned in on the top rack on my desk.

I finished my work early. Now what?

You have two options:

1.Work on other work2.Bring a book to read

These are your only two options. If you do not choose one, then I will help you find work for

you to do.

Assessments

• We have weekly quizzes on the material we did for that whole week.

• Quizzes are ALWAYS on Friday.• Format for quizzes are usually matching,

multiple choice, short answers and fill in the blanks.

Daily Agenda

• Warm ups…Review of prior material• Introduction to daily material• Notes or activity

Warm-Ups

• You will have daily warm-ups.• Based on the material we did the day before.• The first one to get done raises their hand and I check

your answers. • If you have them right, then you can check everyone

else’s. Everyone has two chances to the warm ups• If they have them right, then you will initial their paper

with my stamp.• At the end of the 2 weeks, if you have all 10 warm-ups

right, initialed and all filled in, you will get a piece candy.
