Mrs. Kelly HollandI have been teaching for 7 years. During those years, I have taught kindergarten to third grade. I have my bachelors degree in childhood education and my master’s degree in early childhood special education. I am currently working toward my applied behavior analysis certification at Hunter College.

I grew up in a military family so moving every two years was a huge part of my life. I have been in Manhattan for 7 years, the longest I have been anywhere! I live here with my husband and my 9 month old son, Declan.

Mrs. Andrea LopezI have been teaching for 10 years.My experience ranges from pre-school to second grade. I have a bachelors degree in elementary education,a masters degree in earlychildhood and 30 credits above mymasters degree in special education.All from Hunter College. I have also been an adjunctlecturer at Hunter Collegein the literacy department.

I grew up in Manhattan butnow live in the Bronx with my husband and two daughters.Isabella is 3 years old and Arianna is 17 months.

Ms. Karen EngelMs. Engel is class 2-309’s third teacher. She is

responsible for teaching the science curriculum to our students.

Ms. Engel is also with our class during lunch time and all of their specials, such as: music and growing healthy.

Any questions or concerns about science, lunch or any of the specialty subjects should be addressed with Ms. Engel as we are not with the class during these times.

New York Past (September-January): From the settlement of New Amsterdam to the mid 1800’s.

Science with Ms. EngelSecond grade has three science

units: The class will have science with Ms. Engel twice a week and once with Mrs. Sillart (science cluster).

We can not stress enough how important it is to teach our second graders to become

independent and responsible students and learners this year.

Third grade is not far away where standardized

testing begins!
