Through your threeyears on the course we will help you find, train, develop, widen, express and promote your voiceto enable you to develop into a versatile, knowledgeable, creative and independent fashion communicator and prepare you to enter one of the most challenging, yet dynamic industries in the world.
As a Fashion Journalism student at UCA Epsom, you will be part of a vibrant arts community, studying alongside students on the campus’ other fashion courses. You will also benefit from the facilities provided, which include dedicated work studios, iMac suites, photographic studios, colour and black
and white printers and scanners, as well as access to a range of equipment including video cameras, stills cameras and recording equipment.
The first year of the course concentrates on finding and training your voice, enabling it to grow in confidence through communicating across a number of platforms, utilizing a number of journalistic techniques, getting to grips with the terminology and vocabulary of communicating fashion and understanding of the context in which the contemporary fashion journalist operates within both the fashion media and the wider fashion industry.
Your team on the course have many years of experience working within the fashion media industry – in fact, we all still are part of it – and we look forward to working with you in September.
Wishing you all the best for the summer break. The Fashion Journalism Team

EQUIPMENT
You are not required to bring with you any specific equipment at this point of the course other than plenty of pens, sketchbooks and notepads; however, you might find it useful to get your hands on a laptop – the vast majority of the time we use Macs – and if you can, ensure it is equipped with Adobe Creative Suite. This is not essential as you will have access to computers on campus, but might help you in terms of self-directed study. Should you be required to provide any of your own equipment throughout the duration of the course, we will let you know in advance.
