What We’ve Accomplished• 23 hospitals routinely participate in the

webinar series.

• The majority of these hospitals are on the way to putting the checklist into use for every patient undergoing survey in their hospital.

• If the checklist is used every day for every case in the hospitals that are part of wave 1 we will have captured 60% of the surgeries performed in the state.

What Happens If You Aren’t Done

• Every hospital is at a different stage in implementation.

• Just because the call series ends doesn’t mean the work ends.

• Everybody should continue with the implementation and homework assignments.

• Our team is available to assist in anyway possible.

Wave 2 of the Call Series

• The call series will be repeated two more times over the next year.

• The second wave will run from October – February 2011.

• All hospitals are welcome to participate.

• We might ask for your help from time to time on the webinars.

We are Here to Recruit You

Feedback About the Call Series

• We want to know how the call series went for you.

• We will contact you over the next month to set-up a time for us to get your feedback.

– What could we have done better?

– Did the pace of the call series work for you?

– Should we spend more/less time on certain subjects.

– Should we cover other subjects?

Hospital Sharing Network• We would like your help in spreading the

checklist to other hospitals in South Carolina.

• You are experts now and can help other people.

• Having implementation teams from one hospital would visit another hospital to learn and share their experiences.

• If you are interested email us at: safesurgery2015@hsph.harvard.edu

Speaker’s Bureau• Speak to your peers across the state about the

checklist and implementation.

• The hospital association would like to recruit people for the speakers’ bureau.

• We want enthusiastic people from your hospital to volunteer to speak at other hospitals, conferences, or events about the checklist and the Safe Surgery 2015 initiative.

• If you are interested email us at: safesurgery2015@hsph.harvard.edu

Student Project• This project is an opportunity to teach

students from local universities about quality improvement and surgery.

• Have students visit hospitals in Fall 2011 and learn from implementation teams how they implemented and use the checklist both by talking to teams and observing how the checklist is used.

• If you are interested email us at: safesurgery2015@hsph.harvard.edu

TAP Conference• We will be attending the TAP Conference (September

16th and 17th) at Hilton Head South Carolina.

• This meeting is comprised of hospital board members, CEOs, administrators, and physicians.

• We will update them on the progress that we have made over the last year and highlight the hospitals that have participated in the call series.

• If you have time, we recommend that you update your colleagues that are attending this conference about all that you have done to put the checklist into place.
