G E S DISTRICT HIGHLIGHTS SEPTEMBER 26, 2018

5th Grade Field Trip--Angel Mounds

Thanks to our PTSO, Fifth grade students were able to explore the Angel Mounds State Historic Site. Students were able to participate in Native American cultural activities for a better understanding of the people known as the Mississippians and gain insight they will be able to apply to Social Studies concepts learned in the classroom.

5th Grade—Local Government

Mayor Jan Yonts visited the 5th graders and discussed local government.  She even signed an official proclamation about City Government Month.

American Red Cross—Pillowcase Project

GES students were recently visited by representatives of the American Red Cross. Students learned first-hand what it means to be prepared in the event of an emergency.

Ms. Karen & Liam

Mrs. Karen Shepherd and Liam Carrico work on an art project during Mrs. Jill Walker’s Art Special.

GES Blackhawk Detectives

Ashlyn McDonald and Alisa Shanks were named the first two GES Blackhawk Detectives. Principal Stacie Jones reads clues regarding characteristics of a specific state each morning during the school announcements. Students are able to place their “guess” in the GES Clue box for a chance to have their name be drawn as the GES Blackhawk Detective of the Week. Students must correctly “solve” the mystery in order to win the honor.

G~E~S--Growing Exceptional Students IT'S GREAT TO BE A BLACKHAWK!
