Read Down Your Fines
Kids 18 and younger can “pay” their overdue fines by reading in the library. Just tell a
librarian before you start reading and when you finish reading, and we will waive $1 for every
30 minutes of reading.

READING BUDDY The library matches volunteers, ages 13-adult,
with elementary school children to read together for one hour each week at the library. For more information, call the Weaver Library at 401-434-2453 or

This weekly summer event is open to East Providence teens entering
grades 9-12 to earn community service time for high school or other
organizational requirements. We will be making coiled market
baskets with recycled and repurposed materials to give away
at the Weaver Library Farmers Market*.
*Teens who participate in a
minimum of three Tuesday evening sessions will also have the opportunity
to earn additional community service hours by helping to distribute the baskets at select Weaver Library
Farmers Market dates in July & August.
No registration is required for this summer community service series. You may attend as many or as few sessions as you want, but please plan to arrive on time and stay
for the full session.

Moon Habitat Workshop
Monday, June 24th Participants will work as a team to create a model of a moon habitat made from newspaper tubes and other materials in this fun workshop.
Fused Glass Workshop Monday, July 8th Create your own Dichroic fused glass pendants or magnets with colorful pre-cut glass in this easy, fun class. Presented by Deenie Pacik. Children ages 10-12 must be supervised one-on-one by an adult during this program.
Paint Class
Monday, July 22nd Learn how to paint an image step by step and complete your own special creation in this fun workshop with artist Rebecca Killian of Mermaid Masterpieces.
Indian Henna Workshop
Monday, August 5th
All students will learn to draw in the henna style on paper then work with henna cones. Participants should wear an old shirt and short sleeves as the henna can stain clothing.
Outer Space Pop Sockets Wednesday, June 26th Using acrylic paints, create an outer space design (or another design of your choosing) on a pop socket for your phone or other small device.
Galaxy Bottles Charms
Wednesday, July 10th Make a tiny galaxy in a bottle that shimmers and swishes when you tilt it, then turn it into a necklace or a keychain.
Constellation Luminaries
Wednesday, July 17th Create your own glowing constellation in a jar using battery operated LED lights and other materials.
Laboratory Lockdown Escape Room*
Wednesday, July 24th Penelope Periodic has activated the biohazard sensors in the MobileQuest Lab and is locked inside. Can you help her figure out what she did to set off the sensors then turn off the alarm to help her escape? Presented by MobileQuest Adventures. *Register for either session one (2-2:30) or session two (2:30-3).
Space Origami with RIMOSA
Wednesday, July 31th Learn how the principles of origami folding are applied by engineers and make your own moving structure to take home! Presented by the Rhode Island Museum of Science & Art.
Mural Painting Workshop (12:30-4:30pm*)
Wednesday, August 7th Learn how to design a mural on a large surface and then paint it as a group. The finished piece will be displayed at the library. Presented by artist Rebecca Killian of Mermaid Masterpieces. *Please note that this program has extended hours. For kids and teens ages 12+.
