Overview of OBIEE Visualization

OBIEE's visualization capabilities haven't advanced with thetimes, and while we have received updates like waterfall charts,trellis charts, and performance tiles, there are still ways in whichOracle could both improve the existing visuals and add new

ones. There's a way to complement Oracle's out-of-the-boxvisualizations with third-party visualization capabilities

Download a java library from any number of either paid or opensources charting engines,

Store the files on the OBIEE server

Expose those files as an application in WLS

Call the files in a Narrative view in OBIEE using javascriptOracleBusiness Intelligence 11g comes with lots of new visualizationfeatures

WFT Visualization Journey

The existing EAM and SCM dashboards and reports has beendeveloped using the basic visualization techniques and itslimitations are listed below

Table View: Table view doesn’t support efficient datarepresentation

• Pivot table View: For large chunks of data, pivottables lead to scrolling content.

• Bar Graph: It is very primitive graph and it lack ofadvanced reporting feature.

• Line Graph: If data lines gets more than 5, the graphstarts looking clumsy

• Line Bar Graph: The line bars also looks clumsy if thenumber of lines is more.

• We are using Microsoft Excel 2007+ to export the graphs. Formatting is done in such a way that

it is exported properly without overlapping of graphs that are present in the report.

• Grand Total can be added to the report in dashboard page.

• Return to overview page is used in all reports.

• Features like KPI, Write back, Action links are widely used

• Pivot table, table, bar chart, Narrative, line and line bar graphs are commonly used in the

application.

• Guided Navigation is used frequently

This feature helps in giving better visibility for different range of values. One can easily

identify the strong/weak or average performing areas even through a glimpse.

Freeze Header Implementation:It freezes the data column header, so when a user scrolls down to the bottom of the report,

the column header stays in place and only the data rows move.
