USING THE VERNIER CALIPER1. Insert the object between the jaws of the vernier.

2. Lock the vernier.

3. Take the reading on the fixed scale. Locate “0” mark of the vernier scale. Read the fixed scale mark which is to the left of the “0” mark of the vernier scale . Read as ____mm.

4. Locate the mark of the vernier scale aligned with the mark of the fixed scale.

5. Read the lower vernier scale mark, divide by 10, then write as _____mm.

6. Add the results of steps 4 and 5.

7. Attach a zero to the end.

USING THE MICROMETER SCREW CALIPER

1. Insert the object between the anvil and the spindle.

2. Lock the micrometer screw caliper. 3. Read the linear scale (barrel) in ____ mm.

Whole Marks (above): 1, 2, 3, etc.Half Marks (below): 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, etc.

4. Read the rotating scale (thimble), divide by 100.5. Add results of steps 3 and 4 .6. Deduct or add reading of step 1.

Micrometer Closed - 0.000 mm

After First Rotation - 0.5 mm

After Second Rotation - 1.0 mm

After Third Rotation - 1.5 mm

Whole Marks: 0, 1, 2, 3, etc

Half Marks: 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, etc

Linear Scale: 1.0

Rotating Scale: 0.205

Linear Scale: 3.0

Rotating Scale: 0.270
