An online diary, where anyone with a basic knowledge of computers can post anything for the rest of the world to see for free.

Blogs vary in range from individual diaries to political campaigns, media programs, and businesses.

Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art, photographs, sketches, videos, music, audio.

The occasional author who texts and writes in a blog is known as a ((blogger)), allowing a large scale in the community to collaborate and share comments and ideas.

Any weblogs or blog related websites is known as “blogosphere”.

THE HISTORY OF BLOGS Like the beginning of many things, early bloggers did not

have a name for what they were doing.

Although blogging is a fairly recent invention, its concept is not new at all. Electronic communities had existed long before internetworking.

Justin Hall, began his proto-blog in 1994.

Jorn Barger coined the term on his own blog in December 1997.

HISTORY CONTINUES..

Peter Merholz coined the shorter version “blog” in 1999.

Merriam – Webster’s Dictionary astonishingly declared “blogs” as the word of the year in 2004.

At the end of 1999, the total number of blogs was estimated to be around fifty.

Five years after, the estimates range from 2.4 million to 4.1 million.
