SPORTS EVENTS
Basketball Team
Each team should have 5 playing members Teams can have 5 substitute players (Only a declared substitute can take the field) Teams have to submit the names of the playing 5 and substitutes to the basket ball event
coordinator before the match There should only be 5 members of the playing team within the court at any given point of time
during the match
Match
Matches will be four 10 minute quarters for the mens tournament Matches will be four 5 minute quarters for the womens tournament One time out per quarter will be allowed to each team Official Basket Ball rules 2013 as approved by FIBA central board will be applicable throughout
the tournament Any change in the rules will be explicitly communicated by the tournaments coordinating body
to all participating team Referees decision will be final and binding
FOOTBALL Team
Each team should have only 11 playing members Teams can have 6 substitute players, only a declared substitute can take the field Teams have to submit the names of playing 11 and substitutes to the Football Event Coordinator
before the match There should be only 11 members from each team within the playing field at any point of time
during the match
Match
Matches will be of 50 minutes duration with 25 minutes each half and a break of 10 minutes Standard laws of football will be applicable If a match ends in a draw by the end of normal time, there will be extra time of 20 minutes with
two 10 minutes half will be played If teams are still tied after extra time, penalty shootout will take place If a player is shown a red card or two yellow cards, he will miss the next match, in addition to
the rest of the current one Referees decision shall be final and binding.
Table Tennis Team
There will be a maximum of 9 playing members (5 Men and 4 Women) and a minimum of 7 playing members.
Team Combination should be given to the event coordinator before the start of the tie.
Match
There will be separate events for both Men and Women.
For Women, 3 matches will be played whereas for Men, 5 matches will be played
Mens Events: Singles, Singles, Doubles, Singles, Doubles
Womens Events: Singles, Doubles, Singles
All matches will be of best of 3 sets. The final will be of 5 sets each Each Game will be of 11 points No player can play more than 2 games (but not 2 singles). The same pair cannot play 2 doubles.
The order of players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-decided and submitted to organizing committee before the beginning of the match and cannot be changed thereafter.
Each team can take a maximum of 1 time out during the course of a game. Teams are expected to bring their own Table-Tennis bats. The referees decisions will be final and abiding.

All matches will be of best of 3 sets. Each game will be of 21 points played on rally basis In case of a tie in a game (20-20), the game will then be continued till there is a difference of 2
points between the two teams. But in case it reaches 29-29, it goes to sudden death. One player can play a maximum of two matches but of different kinds(1 singles and 1 doubles)
and each player has to play a minimum of 1 match (Both Men and Women) A timeout of 30 seconds can be given at the discretion of referee for each set per player. If the shuttle hits the roof during play, the referee makes a call to award a point or ask for a re-
serve On the line landing will be treated as in The shuttle will be treated as Live until it hits the floor. In case the player / racquet crosses the
net while the shuttle is live, the point will be awarded to the opponent team Singles: While serving, if the feet of the player touch the boundary lines, it will be treated as
fault Doubles: If the player chooses to use side gallery for the serve, both his feet should be inside
either side gallery or in the main service box. Crossing of feet between side gallery and the main service box would be treated as fault.
Shuttle replacement decision shall be at the discretion of the referee Referees decision shall be final and binding.
CHESS
Team
Each team should have 4 playing members Teams can have 1 extra player Teams have to submit the names of playing 4(Board Wise) and extra to the Event
Coordinator just before the start of the first match, post which the board order cant be changed.
The extra player can enter only at the last board.
Match
All international chess rules will be applicable, unless stated otherwise. Time per match will be 45 minutes per player. The matches will be conducted according to the Swiss League method. The points earned by each team will be the number of boards won by it in a round. In case of a tie in the final results, score of the round between the tied teams will be
considered for deciding the winner. In case there is also a tie in the round between the tied teams, then a blitz match
between one player from each team will be held in order to decide the winner. (Time for the blitz match will be 15 minutes per player).
In case there is still a tie in the blitz, then a Sudden Death (standard rules) match will be played.
Throwball Team comprises of 7 Players and 3 Substitute Members Match will be decided by best of three sets (21 Points each). In case of a tie, set will be decided on 25
points. Service is within five seconds after the referee whistles and is done from the service zone, without
crossing the end line. A player can jump while serving the ball. The service ball must not touch the net. Double touch is not allowed for receiving the service ball and players stay in 3-1-3 position during the
serve.
During a rally, the ball must be caught at once with both hands, without any sound or movement of the ball within the hands (dubs) and the player should have contact with the ground.
Two players are not allowed to catch the ball simultaneously. The ball is thrown within three seconds after being caught, only from above the shoulder-line and only
with one hand. A player can jump when throwing the ball, which can touch the net (but not the antenna). The player should have contact with the ground when catching the ball. However, the ball is not touched with any part of the body other than the palm when catching or
throwing (body touch). The ball can neither be shifted (passed) to the left nor right, nor deliberately pushed.
In official play, teams wear shorts and jersey uniform with numbers only in the range of 1-12 printed front and back
Pool Format: Singles, Doubles, Singles All matches will be of best of 5 frames. The final will be of 7 frames each Game. No player can play more than 1 game per match. The order of players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-decided and submitted to

Carrom Team Composition: The squad will consist of a minimum of 4 players and a maximum of 6 players. A Carrom match will comprise of 5 games: 3 Singles, 2 Doubles Each game will be of 8 boards (with a race to 25 Points). If any of the team reaches 25 points before completion of 8 boards, they will be declared as winners of
that game. Else at the end of 8 boards, the team with more points will be declared as the winner. No player can play more than 2 games (but not 2 singles). The same pair cannot play 2 doubles. Therefore, a minimum of 4 players have to participate in a match. A maximum of 6 players will be allowed to participate in a match. The team winning 3 games will be declared as the winner of the match. Each Match will be a considered a Knockout, and only the winning team advances to the next round
Dead rubbers will not be played in the interests of paucity of time to organize remaining events in the meet.
The order of games and players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-decided and submitted to the organizing committee before the beginning of the match and cannot be changed thereafter.
The queen will carry 3 points and all other coins will carry 1 point. All the fingers including thumb can be used to play both above and under the line. However, change of
playing hand will not be allowed. In case of an injury or incapacity to play occurs during a game, no replacement will be allowed, and if
the player refuses to play (retires hurt), the game will be deemed won by the opponent. Also the player will be counted as having played that game.

during play.
CULTURAL EVENTS Fashion Show: Number of group entries per institute: maximum 1 Time limit per group: 15 mins Maximum number of performers in a group: 15 Theme: Heroes (Interpretation of the theme is completely up to the team) Groups will have to get their own costumes, props, make-up etc and music in mp3 format in a CD/
pen drive. Basic sound/light setup will be provided, teams are required to co-ordinate with the event SPOC on
the day for specifics Teams will not be allowed any additional light sound setups. In case of any requirements, teams
should send in an email to the event SPOCs with the subject line College Name_Valhalla Fashion Show Tech Riders
Stage Play: Number of actors in each group must not exceed 15.
Up to 3 extra people can be used for the other backstage/technical aspects. Of these, one person should be
there for managing sounds. The remaining two can assist backstage we will provide 3 volunteers for the backstage help, if needed.
All sounds must be brought by the teams themselves, in CD or Pen Drive. All sounds MUST be in
MP3 format only. Music may also be played live. In case of live music, the team must bring their own instruments.
Teams have to arrange for their own props and costumes. However, they can avail 4 chairs and
2 tables as props. Sound system will be provided
Time Limit- 60 minutes (max). On exceeding the time limit, points may be deducted, which is to the judges' discretion.
Sticking on the backdrop is not allowed.
A short summary of plot (50-100 words) should be submitted before the main event.
Any obscenity or vulgarity may lead to immediate disqualification, as per the discretion of the
judges.
Judges decision is final and binding, and is not disputable under any circumstances.
Play may be in Hindi or English
A black background will be provided. Appropriate lighting will also be provided.
The teams will be judged on parameters as decided by the judges
Street Play:
Language: Hindi
Theme: Should be socially relevant linked to the theme HEROES of Valhalla 2015
Length: 45 minutes (max)
Team Size: Min 5 -Max 20
Event will be conducted in an open place
Teams will have to arrange for their own props, costumes and music. Drums can be provided by the
SPOC from XLRI for the event. Additional help from 2-3 volunteers will be provided for your set up as well
The teams will be judged on parameters as decided by the judges which include but not limited to the below mentioned criteria

Group Dance: The theme for the Group Dance competition is HEROES
Only one entry is allowed per college. The team can consist of 6-10 people
Time limits: o Preparation time: 1 min o Performance time: 5-9 mins o Hence, a maximum of 10 mins on stage
There will be penalty for exceeding the time limit
Teams are expected to carry their song on a pen drive/CD in MP3 format
No props will be provided by the coordinator. Participants are requested to bring their own props
Green room would be given for changing purpose

No accompanists allowed for vocal as well as instrumental. Individual singing participants can play only one instrument if they wish.

stop growing, said Brandon Travis Ciaccio. o The Sports and Entertainment quiz is one such event that will challenge a persons knowledge
about these 2 fields. More commonly known as the Spent Quiz in the quizzing arena, this event will bring the best minds together and challenge them on 2 intriguing and contrasting fields.
o From Stanislas Wawrinka to Britney Spears, from Mary Kom to David Guetta, from Kabaddi to Quidditch, this event will truly combine the essence of both dimensions.
o All you need is a pen and a friend
The first round is the preliminary round which would filter out the top 8 teams. Questions would be displayed on the screen and the participants will be expected to write their answers.
The final round would consist of multiple rounds like infinite pounce, Long Visual Connect, A-Z and multiple theme rounds. The top 2 teams would be declared winners.

Tasveer-e-Shayari: Event Format: Teams of 3-4
The event consists of 2 tasks running in parallel. The teams can divide the 2 tasks among themselves in any fashion possible. The combined time given will be 1-1.5 hours.
1) Convert a tracks lyrics given on the spot, to an illustration/poster in a given time limit! Display the arsenal of your writing credentials. This will challenge the creativity of the participants.
A3 size sheets and stationery will be provided Participants are not supposed to bring their own material Time limit will be approximately 1 hour
2) See a picture, feel the passion and pen down, a song, a shayari or a beautiful poem. All it requires of the participants
is to absorb the mood and let the creative juices flow. Poem/Shayaari should be in Hindi/English The shayaari should have 12-24 lines Content should be original
XL Bedrock: Time limit: stage on to amp off 25 minutes
1) Teams are not allowed to use any form of prerecorded/preset/programmed beats and/or sounds.
2) Only one participating team per college. Number of members to be a maximum of 8.
3) Teams will be provided a drum kit (4 piece, 1 hi hat, 2 cymbals, 1 ride) and a single bass pedal, however it is strongly recommended that the teams get their own bass pedals. All other instruments must be arranged for by the teams themselves. Octopads are not to be used
4) All members of the band must be current students of the participating institute only.
5) Valhalla reserves the right to make changes to these rules. Teams can also be disqualified on grounds of obscenity and misconduct.
6) Volunteers will be available to take care of any hardware malfunction. Songs cannot be changed after a malfunction. Faking it will lead to disqualification.
7) Decision of the judges will be final and binding.
8) The organizing committee reserves the right to change the rules, if needed.
Raagalaya: (SOLO Classical Music)
