Quality of Experience
Average cities will require more than 400 small cells each by 2019, driven by three
scenarios. Constrained deployment is limited by barriers of sites and backhaul, and it’s
only used to resolve critical issues in most congested macrocells. Capacity-only
deployment uses small cells to ease the congestion of the busiest macrocells. And, wide
QoE deployment enhances the QoE for most macrocells. - Bernard Prkić -Product

Picocell / MicroCell
250m
Femtocell 12m
Self Organized Network • Self Configuration
– Plug and Play
• Self-Optimization
– Provide best capacity, coverage, and performance
• Self-Healing
– Dealing with device failure and recovery
Provisioning • Location
– Pole Mount
– Building
• Power Options
– Low power requirement <25w
– AC Power (DC Conversion)
– Power over Ethernet (PoE)
• Connectivity
– Ethernet
• 10/100/1000 Mbs Connection
– Fiber Interface
PON (Passive Optical Network) • PON networks are in locations where Small Cell deployments are needed
• Centralized
– Suited for concentrated urban areas
– Used in cities, neighborhoods where central access to
distribution point desirable
• Distributed
– Suitable for widely dispersed subscribers
– Typically used for rural deployments
• GPON, EPON, 10G-PON, xPON
