BASEMENT UTILITY SINK REPLACEMENT

Kings Mountain, NC 2012

This is a cast iron laundry sink that was installed at the time the house was built in the 1960’s. The faucet handles were severely stripped, causing continuous dripping and the galvanized drain pipe was packed full of debris. The water supply lines were also leaking.

The bucket pictured here is full of water that dripped from the faucet in an 8 hour timeframe. The sink also had rust stains from the constant running of water.

The bottom of the sink was also starting to decay from rust buildup, causing the washer and seals to drip constantly onto the basement floor.

Once I disconnected the sink and removed it, I had to cut the copper water lines and install new supply stops for both, hot and cold lines.

I installed flex water supply lines, snaked the drain line to ensure the clog was removed and connected the new trap.

Finished product. Homeowner was very pleased that the sink functioned flawlessly and provided much more functionality with its depth and detachable faucet sprayer.
