CONCEPT: LAYERING

THE LAYER HOUSE IS A STUDY OF THE QUALITY AND CONDITIONS OF LIGHT AND SPACE WHICH ARE AFFECTED BY THE LAYERING OF OPERABLE ELEMENTS, FIXED STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS, AND MATERIALITY. THESE OPERABLE ELEMENTS ALSO FUNCTION AS PASSIVE HEATING AND COOLING STRATEGIES. THE IDEA OF LAYERING IS FOUND THROUGHOUT THE SCHEME, BOTH BY THE LAYERING OF SPACES THROUGH PHYSICAL BOUNDARIES, AS WELL AS THE BLENDING OF INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR SPACES.
