On the M:/ drive, there is a folder called “TNRIS_Index”. In it, there are shapefiles that represent Texas quadrangles. Overlay this shapefile on your study area and check the label to see which quadrangle your study area is in.

A map similar to the TNRIS_Index appears, but only with roads. That is why you should use the shapefile; you can accurately find your quadrangles and skip this county level step.

Aerial Photos are ready to go into ArcMap as is after un-zipping.
DEMs must be converted to rasters. Look here in ArcMap’s ArcToolbox to make the conversion
Many other files, including NEDs are interchange files (.e00). To convert them, go to ArcCatalog. Click on view > toolbars > ArcView 8x Tools. The Conversion tools box will appear. Click on it, and you will have the option to import from interchange.

An FTP site is a site that contains multiple files and folders of information and has the appearance of a local hard drive or network drive. When you find the data you want, right click on the icon and tell it to copy it to your drive.
