Overview of Steps These steps show how to go from Blackboard Learn to CourseSmart for students and instructors who have a CourseSmart book set up in their course shell. •  Go to Blackboard Learn, at www.mylearn.hct.ac.ae or from the HCT portal

•  Select course and course overview; select title for reading from course page

•  Pair the Blackboard and CourseSmart accounts. •  This is a one time step only, necessary the first time that a faculty

member or student goes from Blackboard to CourseSmart. •  You must use your HCT email address when pairing is being done

•  Then, open eTextbook in browser and begin to use.

•  Note: detailed steps for pairing are not shown here as they are identical to those shown logging in from BBML

These steps are aimed at students that want to use their CourseSmart eTextbook on a Mac or PC and have already accessed their eTextbook using Blackboard Learn. It contains details of the learning tools built in to CourseSmart. •  Viewing tools: turn pages, magnify, viewing options

•  Navigation tools 1: thumbnail view, go to page

•  Navigation tools 2: table of contents, search

•  Productivity tools 1: notes, highlight and copy.

•  Productivity tools 2: print, share, link

Overview of Steps:

These steps are for students who want to use their CourseSmart eTextbook offline on a Mac or PC. •  To use the offline feature, go to your CourseSmart bookshelf, by clicking ‘view

on my bookshelf’ and then click ‘checkout book’

•  Select chapters or the whole book to download for offline viewing

•  You can now see these chapters or the whole book in your offline bookshelf

•  Make notes, highlight or annotate as usual – these will all synchronise to your bookshelf on CourseSmart when you are next on line.

•  Note: printing and sharing are not possible when you are offline

•  You can save a line to your Offline Bookshelf in the bookmarks bar in your browser

•  Remember: you must use the same browser to return to your Offline Bookshelf

•  When the Title Screen Appears, click on ‘View Book on My Bookshelf’

•  From My Bookshelf, click ‘Checkout Book’
