TheVehoDX-1microscopeallowsyoutoexplorethemicroscopicworld.Highlyusefulforstudents,teachers,laboratoryresearch,medicalanalysis,repairservicesorhobbyists.

Pleasetakeamomenttoreadthroughthismanualtoensureyougetthemostoutofthemicroscope.Keepthismanualsafeforfuturereference.

Beforeusingthemicroscope,pleasereadthesafetyprecautionsbelow.Alwaysensure thattheunitisoperatedcorrectly:

n TheDX-1microscopeisnotwaterproof

n Useandstorewithinacool,dryenvironment(-5°C–50°C),avoidusingindampconditions

n Donotpointthelenstowardsthesunorastronglightsource,thismaydamage the microscope

n Avoidtouchingthelens,unlesswiththesuppliedcleaningcloth

n DonotstaredirectlyintotheLEDs;theymaydamageyoureyes

PluginthemicroscopebeforeopeningMicroCapturesoftware.Onceconnected,openMicroCapturesoftwaretostartusingthemicroscope.

Ifthemicroscopeisnotrecognisedorhasbeendisconnectedanotificationwillbedisplayed.

Tofocusthemicroscoperotatethefocuswheelonthefrontofthemicroscope;clockwisetozoom-in oranti-clockwisetozoomout.Usingthesoftware,youwillbeabletoseeonscreenwhethertheDX-1 isfocused.

Captureastillphotoorvideofootageatanypointwhenusingthemicroscope,usetheiconsordropdownmenuwithintheMicroCapturePlussoftware.

Settingandpreferencescanalsobeadjustedwithinthesoftware,theseinclude:

n Resolution

n Dateandtime

n Interfacelanguage

n Full-screen mode

n Timerforphoto/videocapture

Using the software

Calibration

Ensure‘DisplayCrossing’isturnon,goto‘Options>XYGuide>On/Off’.

Themicroscopewilldefaulttocrossing‘On’,werecommendthatthisislefton.

Step 1 Focus the microscope on the suppliedcalibrationruler,adjustthemagnificationwheeluntilthepictureisclear.TakeapictureoftheselectedareawhentherulerlinesareparalleltotheblueXYguides,asshownintheimage.

Step 2 Double-click on the image captured to enter the measurement interface.

Step 3 Once the image is open, click on thecalibrationicon.Usingthemouse,clickonthebeginningandendingpoints;youmustknowthedistancebetweenthepoints(usingtheruler).Adialogueboxwillpopup,entertheexactvalueofthemeasurementinto‘Actualdimension’.Thesoftwarewillautomaticallycalibratethemagnificationrate.Click‘OK’andtheadjustedmagnificationratewillshowintheupperrightcorner.

Step 4Nowusing‘AnyAngleLine’,under the measurement icon, measure thesamedistanceagain.Ifthevaluemeasuredisapproximatelythesameastheactualvalue,thencalibrationhasbeensuccessful.

Measurements

Double-click on the image to enter the measurementinterface.Underthe‘Measurement’icon,chooseanyofthefollowingoptionstomeasure.

Any Angle Line Measurement Clickandholdfromonepointanddragtothenextpoint,thenrelease.

Continuous Line MeasurementAllowsyoutomeasureanycontinuouslength.Click,holdanddragfromonepointtootherpoints,thenrelease.

Radius Circle MeasurementClick,holdandextendouttothechosenradius.Theradius,circumferenceandareaofthecirclewillbecalculated.

Diameter Circle MeasurementClick,holdandextendouttothechosendiameter.Thediameter,circumferenceandareaofthecirclewillbecalculated.

Three Points Angle Measurement Select anythreepoints,theanglevalueswillbecalculatedanddisplayed.

Changing Calibration

Usethefollowingstepstochangecalibrationsettings.

1. Double-clicktoopentheimage,clickthe‘Calibration’icon,andselect‘ResetMagnification’andthen‘ResetPictureMagnification’.Thenstartcalibrationagain.

2. Changethemagnificationrateandcaptureseveralimages, click on the image to enter measurement interface.Select‘SetMagnification’then‘SetPictureMagnification’,adialogueboxwillappear;enteryourchosenmagnificationrateandclick‘OK’.

3. Ifyouwanttousethesamemagnificationratetocapturepictures,click‘SetMagnification’then‘SetCaptureMagnification’tosavesettings.Allpictureswillusethesamemagnificationrate.

Youcanannotatecapturedimagesusingthedraworaddtextfeatures;thisisusefulwhenusingforlateranalysis.

1. Clickthepencilicontobringupthedrawingdropdownlist.Selectyourpreferredtool,andstartdrawingontheimage.

2. Clickthetexticontoaddwritingtoyourcapturedimage.Fromthedropdownselectyourpreferredfont,sizeandtextcolour.

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution

Photocaptureorvideoisblurredorshaky Theimageisnotinfocus,correctthisbyturningtheFocusWheel. Usethemicroscopestandwhencapturingimagestoavoidshake.

Microscopedoesnotturnon TryadifferentUSBport. DownloadtheMicroCapturePlussoftware.

Screenisblank Ensurethatthesoftwareisopenandthescopeispluggedin. Checktheitemyouwanttoviewispositionedcorrectlyunderthe lens.Ensurethescopeisfocused.

Imagelookssmudgedorblurred Cleanthescreenandlenscarefullywithsuppliedcloth.
