This presentation show screen shots of two applications that we use to manage Drupal user accounts. We even have it so our Regional Directors can add/remove authors for the counties they oversee.

Current Drupal Environment

• Standard LAMP stack• Drupal 6• OpenPublish distribution• Domain Access• PubCookie

Domain Access

• Domain = subfolder• Access control system (groups)• Assign content types to domains• Assign themes to domains• 130+ domains/subfolders

PubCookie

• Single Sign On• Uses Active Directory Accounts• Creates a New User in Drupal• 800+ Users

Problems

• 800+ Users• Hard to find a specific user• Risk removing them from one group when

adding to a new one• No good way to tell who has access to each

subfolder (other than look in the database)

Future Plans

• Build distribution lists in Active Directory* All web authors

* All county authors* One for each domain/subfolder

• Manage users in Intranet site* Use our “All Staff” list to create users

* Use a role to manage access

Take Aways

• Untrusted users group• Find a problem/create a solution• Don’t be afraid of the Drupal database
