• A pesticide is a substance or mixture of substances used to kill a pest.

• Pests include insects, plant pathogens, weeds, birds, mammals, fish, nematodes (roundworms), microbes and people that destroy property, spread or a vector for disease or cause a nuisance.

•Fertilizer (or fertiliser) is any organic or inorganic material of natural or synthetic origin (other than liming materials) that is added to a soil to supply one or more plant nutrients essential to the growth of plants.

Pesticide use raises a number of environmental concerns. Over 98% of sprayed insecticides and 95% of herbicides reach a destination other than their target species, including non-target species, air, water, bottom sediments and food.

• . Pesticides are one of the causes of water pollution, and some pesticides are persistent organic pollutants and contribute to soil contamination.

•Hence the shift to a more environment-friendly pesticide is encouraged. • This organic pesticide utilizes human

urine and plant spices such as:

Procedure of pesticide preparation:

1. Grind the plant mixture mentioned above.2. Boil .3. Add urine to the mix.4. Ferment for 2-3 weeks.5. Add a grinded red pepper and red onion to the fermented

mixture.6. Close the container for 3-4 days.

This prepared pesticide could now be diluted with water for spray or sprinkled over the plant.

• Urine has a fertilizer value of N/P/K 18:2:5 (2).• Each individual produces 1.5 L of urine per

day.• In general, pure human urine contains

very few enteric microorganisms . • The nutrient content present in human

urine may mean it can be a good fertilizer for plants.

I. Phosphorus Recovery• Phosphorus can be recovered by mixing the urine with

magnesium, which binds with the phosphorus and the nitrogen.

• The generated precipitate is composed of struvite or MAP (magnesium ammonium phosphate), a solid mineral fertilizer.

II. Nitrogen Recovery • When the temperature and the pH of urine are increased, the

nitrogen prevails in the form of volatile ammonia. • Ammonia can easily be removed from the liquid phase

through air stripping and subsequently be absorbed in sulfuric acid to form ammonium sulfate, a liquid fertilizer.
