URBAN PLANT LIFE

A Visual Journal Of Plant Life within London

In London we are always short of space , but more importantly Green space . This book aims to reveal innovative ways of ‘gardening’ in the city of London. It wi l l show visual documentat ion of my own journeys and observations through the city based on this topic . Due to urbanizat ion city l i fe has its con-strengths regarding l imited l iv ing space . Many of us f ind ourselves inhabit ing modest s ized f lats or houses which don’t a lways offer outdoor space . Alternatively smal l balconies and window boxes are usual ly what most of us have access to but only i f you are priv i leged enough to own addit ional space within your property at a l l . Otherwise you have to seek local parks or publ ic gardens to f ind any natural refuge from the concrete jungle that is London. The content of the book wil l be based upon a hand picked select ion of photographs and drawings that depict this c learly representing how people are using personal space to create a natural environment. Whether this is a balcony ful l of exotic trees and overgrown bushes, a window planter holding blooming f lowers current to the season, gardens which belong to f lats and houses or even col lect ions of indoor plants people have found themselves caring for and are al l prime examples that show the innervations regarding this subject . My observations gathered wil l make people become more aware of plant l i fe within the city and inf luence many to become more in touch with nature . Real is ing even with the restraints that city l i fe produces there are alternative ways to interact with fresh greenery within our personal l ives and environments.
